Blogmas Day 17: Alternative Christmas Lip Colours

Christmas time tends to be the season of bright red and berry lipsticks, but not everybody feels comfortable in these colours, so I thought I would list some colours that aren’t exactly traditional Christmas, but still gorgeous for this time of year.

Jeffrey Star | Celebrity Skin

I have been hesitant for so long about buying Jeffrey Star products because of all of the things he has said and done and I don’t agree with any of those things. Celebrity Skin is a gorgeous nude, that is now one of my favourite lipsticks. It is a soft brown with peach undertones that is really wearable for day and night. This lipstick feels creamy and it’s really long wearing. It did feel a little dry on me after a while though. If you prefer liquid lipsticks, to actual lipsticks then you are in luck, as this shade also comes in a liquid formula.

MAC | Whirl

A newbie to my collection, but the colour is gorgeous. It is one of the original Kylie Jenner colours that everybody went mad over, so getting hold of this shade was really difficult, but now the hype has died down, it isn’t as strong. Whirl is a rosy brown shade which isn’t super brown. I can imagine this will suit a lot of skin tones, as it appears to look different on different people.

MAC | Velvet Teddy

A lot of people compare Whirl and Velvet Teddy as they are quite similar, but Velvet Teddy is a lot lighter than Whirl, so if you do want that lighter nude then this one is better for you. It is described as a deep tone beige by MAC. This is another shade that Kylie Jenner made popular, as this shade was extremely hard to get hold of for a while, but since the hype has died down, it’s not so hard anymore. It is a matte formula, and wears extremely well.

MAC | Liptensity Lipstick | Driftwood

Driftwood is a soft, medium mauve. This lipstick has a glossy finish, but it is also very thin. It doesn’t wear for very long, but it is very comfortable to wear. Driftwood is described as a soft lilac beige by MAC, which I can sort of see, but the lilac is nothing to be put off by, as it isn’t really noticeable.

Essence | Barely There

For being such an affordable lipstick this is one of my favourites. The colour is stunning, it is a warm toned. nude pink which means it matches pretty much any look. This lipstick is also really creamy, so it doesn’t dry the lips out. It does give a good colour pay off with multiple swipes which isn’t an issue, as it builds really nicely.

Too Faced | Melted Chocolate Milkshake

This is a slightly muted, light medium peach with warm undertones which makes for a really pretty nude, which like Barely There means it can be paired with pretty much any eye look. Unlike the other lipsticks on this list, this one smells like chocolate; yes chocolate. The scent doesn’t last too long, so you won’t be smelling it throughout the day. It dries down to a matte formula which is a little drying, but it isn’t uncomfortable.

Left to Right: Celebrity Skin, Whirl, Velvet Teddy, Driftwood, Barely There, Chocolate Milkshake

That is all I’m going to list, I hope this helps you.

What’s your favourite nude shade?
