I originally wrote this review all the way back in 2015 when I was desperately searching for a solution to my dry skin. Eleven years later, despite the brand’s recent high-street restructuring, this exact bottle remains a cult-classic staple in the beauty world.

After struggling with frustratingly dry skin for a while, I found myself browsing the Body Shop website with almost the entire Vitamin E range sitting in my shopping basket.

In the end, I managed to exercise some restraint and narrowed it down to just three core staples: the cleanser, the toner, and the moisturiser. Let’s just say, all these years later, I haven’t looked back.

If you are hunting for an affordable, comforting wash that won’t leave your face feeling stripped, here is my honest review of The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser.

What Is It & Who Is It For?

This creamy formula is designed to act as the very first step in your skincare routine. It is formulated to gently melt away daily impurities, pollution, and light makeup to leave your skin feeling completely clean, soft, and refreshed.

  • The Texture: It has a gorgeous, rich, lotion-like texture that feels incredibly cushioning on the skin.

  • Sensitivity Check: My skin is quite sensitive, so I always worry that introducing a new skincare product will cause a flare-up or irritation. Thankfully, this formula is incredibly gentle and has never caused my skin any issues whatsoever.

How to Use It for Best Results

I personally love to use this exclusively in the evenings as a comforting first wash, though it is easily gentle enough to use twice a day (both morning and night) if your skin barrier is feeling particularly compromised.

1.Massage into dry skin:

Dispense a generous amount and gently massage the cream into your dry face and neck in circular motions to break down oils and makeup.

2.Remove with a muslin cloth:

Soak a clean muslin cloth or flannel in warm water and gently wipe the cream away. This provides a very mild, non-irritating physical exfoliation.

3.Lock in the hydration:

Follow up immediately with your toner and a rich cream while the skin is still slightly damp to seal in the moisture.

The Honest Results

This quickly became an absolute go-to in my bathroom cabinet. It leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft, plumped, and completely calm.

  • The Perfect Pairing: Because this cleanser is so mild, on days when my skin is feeling particularly parched or battered by winter weather, I love to pair it with their intense Vitamin E Moisture Cream. It is an amazing, deeply hydrating combination that saves my skin when a standard cleanser alone doesn’t feel like quite enough.

  • The Fragrance: It is scented, and I must admit that the classic Vitamin E aroma isn’t my absolute favourite fragrance in the world. However, it isn’t bad at all. It just smells like traditional, clean skincare rather than anything overly sweet or artificial, which is a nice touch.

Embracing a minimal, low-buy skincare routine means choosing products that perform consistently without breaking the bank. This cleanser is affordable, easily accessible, and delivers exactly what it promises on the bottle. It is an absolute staple that has truly stood the test of time!
