The Retro Reflection
I have to laugh looking back at this post from the archives! This haul was filmed right at the peak of the 2016 beauty boom. We are talking heavy matte liquid lipsticks, blinding highlighters, and the absolute obsession with tracking down Kylie Jenner’s favorite MAC shades.
What cracks me up the most is how excited I was to finally visit a physical Sephora on holiday. Back then, Sephora felt like an elusive beauty wonderland we could only dream of visiting. It’s wild to think about that now. I’m also wondering why I felt I needed that many lipsticks!
I’ve left my original, honest first impressions completely untouched below. Grab a massive dose of 2016 makeup nostalgia and let’s look at what made it into my basket!
My Original 2016 Holiday Haul
Much to nobody’s surprise, I am back with another beauty haul! Seriously, it is all I seem to be posting just lately…
However, I promise this haul is a little bit more exciting than usual, as it is a combined MAC and Sephora haul. If you follow me over on Instagram, you will already know that I’ve recently gotten back from a brilliant holiday, and I took absolute full advantage of the Sephora store and the multiple MAC counters I kept spotting along the way.
Let’s get straight into the breakdown!
MAC | Mineralise Skin-finish Soft and Gentle
I have heard so many endless rave reviews about this highlighter. So when I spotted it sitting in duty-free at the airport, I just couldn’t leave it behind. It is naturally a little bit dark for my everyday pale skin tone. With buying it at the airport meant it matched me perfectly while I had a bit of a holiday tan! Soft and Gentle is described as a gilded peach-bronze and it is incredibly pigmented.
MAC | Matte Lipstick Lady Danger

I initially bought this vibrant shade specifically to wear while away on holiday, but I didn’t end up wearing quite as much bold lipstick as I thought I would. Regardless, I’m still so happy that I added this to my collection because I don’t have anything else quite like it. Lady Danger is a bright, punchy coral-red. I always prefer a warm coral undertone rather than a true blue red
MAC | Matte Lipstick Velvet Teddy

This specific shade has been notoriously hard to get a hold of lately, as it is completely famous for being Kylie Jenner’s everyday nude lipstick of choice! I finally managed to track down a tube, and I got a massive amount of wear out of it while on holiday. It is described as a deep toned beige and it is the absolute perfect daily nude.
MAC | Lip Pencil Dervish
I’ve been trying hard to get into using lip liners properly, as I know they are supposed to really help the longevity of your lipsticks throughout the day. Dervish is described as a pretty pinky-mauve, and I think it is neutral enough to match pretty much all of the everyday lipsticks I currently own.
MAC | Lip Pencil Hip n Happy
Discontinued
As well as a standard nude lip liner, I really wanted to add a crisp pink one to my vanity. I picked up Hip ‘n’ Happy, which is a lovely, cool toned pink. I’ve been really enjoying a pink lip look lately.
MAC | Frost Lipstick Angel

I have actually never tried one of MAC’s traditional Frost formula lipsticks before, but this looked like my absolute dream shade. Angel is a beautiful, soft pastel pink, and I have a sneaking suspicion it might become my new go to daily colour.
MAC | Satin Lipstick Twig

A while ago, I was completely undecided on whether to buy the shade Faux or Twig. In the end, I went home with Faux, but I’ve always had Twig lingering in the back of my mind. When I saw it sitting on the counter at the airport, I took it as a sign and finally bought it. It is a soft, muted, brownish pink, which sounds exactly like something I’d love.
MAC | Satin Lipstick Snob

At this point in the shop, I honestly thought I was completely done, but then this shade caught my eye from across the display! I have been loving tones like this lately, so I decided to add it to the pile. Snob is a light, neutral-cool pink, and I think it will pair perfectly with the Hip ‘n’ Happy lip liner I picked up earlier.
The Sephora Haul
Tarte | Tartelette in Bloom Palette
When I walked through the doors of Sephora, my original plan was to pick up a Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, but this one completely caught my eye instead. It looks like the absolute perfect mix of rosy-nudes and warm bronzes, and I am so looking forward to testing the shadows out properly. I love these kinds of everyday shades, and it looks like a palette I will get a mountain of use out of.
Too Faced | Melted Lipstick Melted Chihuahua
I have already tried this specific liquefied formula before and absolutely love it. So I really wanted to pick up another shade while I had access to a Sephora counter. In the end, I went for Melted Chihuahua. Which could honestly win a prize for the absolute worst shade name ever! Name aside, it is a stunning, warm toned, peachy light brown with a beautiful, comfortable, creamy finish.
Sephora | Lip Gloss 10 Baby Doll Pink
Discontinued
I haven’t used a traditional lip gloss in such a long time, but because my lips really don’t get along with drying liquid lipsticks very well, I decided it was time to try one again. Baby Doll looks like it will match a lot of the pink lipsticks I already own, especially Snob from my MAC pile.
Sephora | Matte Long Wear Lip Color Fig Luster
Discontinued
I know I just mentioned that I don’t usually get along with matte liquid lipsticks. But this specific shade completely made me want to try again. I’ve got everything crossed that the Sephora formula isn’t too drying on the lips, as I’ll be a bit sad if I can’t make it work considering it is such a beautiful, pinky nude shade.
Final Thoughts
There we have it, my complete holiday MAC and Sephora haul! I am so excited to put all of these new bits to the test and report back on how they wear.

Are you team Velvet Teddy or team Twig when it comes to classic MAC nudes? Did you also buy a Tartelette palette back in the day, or were you firmly dedicated to the Urban Decay Naked palettes?

There is a new Sephora about 5 blocks from my apartment, very dangerous for my wallet. I have been wanting some new shadow bored with what I have. This Tarte palette looks SO nice I will have to check this out next time I am in Sephora.
