It’s Christmas Eve! That also marks the end of Blogmas, and what a month it’s been. I’ve been wanting to bake something festive for a while now, and I am very pleased with how these cookies have turned out. It’s something very different for me, but I’m glad that I attempted them. They may not look perfect, but they don’t need to.
The actual biscuit is cinnamon flavour, which I will admit is not my favourite, however I still enjoyed them. I am finding myself enjoying cinnamon in bakes, as I loved them in these banana and chocolate muffins.
This is how to bake reindeer cookies.
Ingredients:

150g Self Raising Flour
150g Plain Flour
3 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
125g Butter
100g Sugar
1 Beaten Egg
Icing Sugar
Smarties
Chocolate Decorating Pen
Chocolate Chips
Method:
1 . Set the Oven to 160 Degrees / Gas Mark 3, and line your baking trays with baking paper. I didn’t do this, but I wish I did.
2. Sift both of the flours and Cinnamon into a bowl.

3. In a separate bowl mix the butter and sugar until smooth. Once combined, add the beaten egg and mix well.
4. Stir in the dry ingredients from the first bowl, and mix until the dough is firm.

5. Put the dough on a lightly floured board and knead until smooth.
6. Using a rolling-pin, roll the dough out to as thin or as thick as you would like the cookies to be.

7. Once rolled out, cut into shapes. I used a rabbit cookie cutter from Easter, and made them look reindeer with the decorations. Once done place on a greased baking tray.
8. Bake in the oven until they are a light gold colour. This should take around 10-15 minutes. Let cool and harden.

Decorating
1 . I kinda winged it with the icing sugar, as you don’t need that much. You’re only using little bits to stick the decorations down, so I’d advise making little bits up as you go, just to minimise waste.
2. I made the icing first, and then put the smarties into a bowl and the chocolate chips into another bowl.
3. Take your smartie and dip one side into the icing. Once you’ve done that, place it onto the centre pressing lightly to ensure it’s stuck.
4. Afterwards do the same with the chocolate chips, but place them above the smarties for the eyes.
5. Then get your chocolate pen and draw little antlers on the ears.
6. Leave to set, and you’re all done!

That was how to bake reindeer cookies, the perfect Christmas treat.
Merry Christmas, and thank you for reading.
