Kiko Glow Fusion 01 Brilliant Champagne Review

After seeing so many people rave about Kiko over on Instagram, I knew I had to try it. I posted my first ever haul from them a few days ago, and I knew I had to get stuck into the highlighter straight away. I’ve been testing it ever since, and I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

Let’s get into my Kiko Glow Fusion 01 Brilliant Champagne review.

The Packaging

The packaging is similar to Hourglass, as it’s in a sleek reflective silver square compact. I personally hate anything with reflective packaging; especially makeup. It shows fingerprints too easily and is almost impossible to keep clean. It’s also very annoying for a blogger, as you can always see the phone in the reflection; which is not cute.

There is also a mirror on the inside which is a decent size. Mirrors in compacts don’t tend to bother me too much, as I always use the one in a face palette or eyeshadow palette. However, I know a lot of people like their compacts to have mirrors. If that’s you then you will love this one.

It looks a matte without flash, so here it is with the flash on.

The Shade Range

There are three shades in the Glow Fusion highlighter range; 01 Brilliant Champagne, 02 Heavenly Gold and 03 Divine Bronze. I’ve noticed that the more affordable brands keep their shade selection small for highlighters. Which is a shame, but at least the three of these aren’t slightly different versions of champagne.

I have the shade 01 Brilliant Champagne which is a light white highlighter with a subtle gold cast.

The Price

I have edited this post in 2024 and this highlighter currently costs £11.99, where as when it was originally posted it was £9.90. That’s a difference of £2.09 in seven years. Considering how other brands have increased their prices, I don’t think that’s too bad. Obviously I will never be happy about a price increase, but some brands have gotten ridiculous. I’m looking at you MAC lipsticks… 

Texture and Finish

I love how smooth and lightweight this powder is. It looks like a setting powder in the pan, but you can see the shimmer when the flash is on. The lightweight texture means it glides onto the skin and leaves a beautiful natural finish.

This highlighter is subtle, so it’s not for those who like something a little more blinding. I have to admit that I prefer to glow, so this isn’t a highlighter that I would naturally gravitate too. However it does make a nice change, and I am starting to enjoy the more natural looking highlighters these days.

I like to build this highlighter to get a little bit more glow, but it does leave a white stripe if you pile too much on. I’ve learnt the hard way. So I would recommend using this as it was intended, and that’s to give a natural glow. If you want blinding you’ll need something else. A positive is that this one has no chunky glitter, which I really like.

Overall

Even though this isn’t as blinding as the highlighters I usually reach for; I have been really enjoying it. It’s different to other products in my collection, and I’m starting to appreciate the natural sheen that this offers. The shade is beautiful, and I just hope that the shades on offer cater to everybody.
