Lockdown Nostalgia: My November Favourites 2020 Retrospective

This post contains affiliate links which means I may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link.

The 2026 Retro Reflection

I had to smile looking back at this specific favourites post from late 2020! The UK was heading straight back into another lockdown, and like the rest of the world, my routine shifted heavily into two things: digging through my old makeup collection to find hidden gems, and spending hours glued to my Nintendo Switch to completely switch off from the news.

Looking back from 2026, it’s wild to think about how much comfort these specific items gave me. I’ve left my original, honest thoughts untouched below, let me know if any of these got you through that winter, too!

My Original November 2020 Favourites

Look at that, a favourites post that actually isn’t late! After the past few months of these accidentally going live in the middle of the month, I was absolutely determined to get this one up right at the start.

I’m also pleasantly surprised with how this whole lineup turned out. In all honesty, I was expecting this post to be really hard to put together with the UK going into another winter lockdown, but that didn’t end up being the case at all.

Here is everything I was loving throughout November 2020!

Kiko | Standout Volume Mascara

I actually bought this mascara a while ago, and on first impression, the formula didn’t completely blow me away, so it spent months barely being touched in my drawer. However, I gave it another go this November, and I am officially in love! It builds beautifully on the lashes and leaves me with amazing length without a single clump. It also stays firmly in place all day long with absolutely zero transferring onto my brow bone. I’m really surprised by how much I like this now that the formula has dried out a bit!

Too Faced | Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick

Discontinued

I know, I am just as shocked as you are to see this typing these words! Regular readers will know that traditional liquid lipsticks are just not for me. I’ve made that very clear in the past. But this formula is genuinely amazing.

In all honesty, I threw this on expecting to absolutely hate it. I was planning a massive makeup declutter and this had been gathering dust in my collection for a while. Instead, it’s become my new favourite! It is extremely comfortable on the lips, to the point where it feels like you aren’t wearing any product at all. The wear time is really good, though it does start to fade a bit through eating and drinking. I know liquid lipsticks have technically had their fifteen minutes of fame in the beauty world, but if you want a comfortable matte formula, this line is well worth looking into.

Jolie Beauty | Second Skin Highlighter in Saintly

Disclaimer: This highlighter was originally gifted to me, but all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

I never used to think I minded whether a highlighter contained micro-glitter or not, but now that I’ve tried this smooth formula, I completely understand why so many people hate chunky glitter products! This highlighter contains zero glitter particles and leaves the most perfect, seamless sheen on the cheeks. It is incredibly blinding without leaving that dreaded grey cast or stripe when you look forward. Just an overall beautiful product.

Spyro the Dragon: The Reignited Trilogy (Nintendo Switch)

The exact second I found out that the Reignited Trilogy was being made, I was absolutely ecstatic. I love anything nostalgic, and Spyro was my absolute favourite game as a kid, so adding this to my collection was a total no brainer. Whenever I have some free time lately or just desperately need to switch my brain off from the world, I always find myself reaching for my Nintendo Switch and loading this right up.

Super Mario Bros. 35 (Nintendo Switch)

Discontinued

This is a game I only discovered towards the very end of the month, but I just had to include it. Mario 35 is such a fun, chaotic twist on the classic Super Mario series. You play simultaneously against 34 other players online in order to be the last Mario standing.

I downloaded it completely on a whim because it was available for free, and I honestly couldn’t put it down. The enemies you defeat in your level get sent directly over to other players’ screens, which means every single level has some kind of bizarre twist. It is so much fun and well worth downloading if you already pay for Nintendo’s online subscription service.

Final Thoughts

There we have it, my complete November 2020 favourites! It was a cosy month of classic games and unexpected makeup wins.

Let’s Chat in the Comments!

What products or games were getting you through November? Did you also spend your lockdown loading up Spyro or Animal Crossing on the Switch? And did you ever manage to win a match in Mario 35?

Thank you so much for reading!

Real talk family dinner review!🤍 (Gifted/ invite) Real talk family dinner review!🤍
(Gifted/ invite)

We treated the kids to a meal out at weathervanemeirpark this weekend, and the family vibes were lovely. One of the biggest wins was that the staff brought over colouring pages and crayons for both kids without us even having to ask. Which is a lifesaver with two toddlers🥵

Noah and Ella were completely won over by the food. Noah cleared his plate of sausage, chips, and beans, and Ella was living her best life with pasta, corn on the cob, and chips (a toddler dream combo, let’s be real😂)

As for the adults, Jake loved The Big Melt burger. I ordered the Katsu Curry Feast, and we did have a little hiccup where my chicken looked a little pink, but I always judge a place by how they handle mistakes. The staff were absolutely brilliant, replaced it immediately, and even brought over a complimentary drink to apologise. Great customer service honestly makes all the difference.🫶🏻

It’s a super welcoming, stress free spot if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids this weekend.

Swipe to the very end to see Ella making sure no ice cream got left behind😂

What’s your ultimate go to meal when you eat out with the family?🍽️
