So I very nearly missed my monthly baking post, and after my extremely late August favourites I know I need to be more organised. This month I decided to make chocolate cookies, but add chocolate orange. Mainly because it’s getting on, and for some reason Chocolate Orange always reminds me of Christmas, so I’m starting early.
This recipe is essentially the same recipe as the Tanya Burr Triple Chocolate cookies, that I have previously baked, but I switched the three types of chocolate out for a Chocolate orange, so if Chocolate Orange isn’t your thing then you can always swap it out.
This is How to Bake Chocolate Orange Cookies.
275g Self Raising Flour
300g Caster Sugar
200g Unsalted Butter
1 Large Egg
75g Cocoa Powder
A Dash of Milk (Optional)
A Whole Terry’s Chocolate Orange
1 . Preheat the oven to 200 Celsius/ 400 Fahrenheit / Gas Mark 6. Line your baking trays with grease proof paper. As I don’t have grease proof paper, I buttered the trays first and they came off much easier.
2 . Mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, and then crack in the egg and continue mixing until smooth.
3 . Add the flour and cocoa powder and continue mixing. If the mixture is too dry you can add the splash of milk, the last time I made these cookies I didn’t need to add any milk, but this time I did.
4. I wasn’t going to add all of the chocolate orange, but I ended up adding it all so it spread across the mixture evenly. I broke the chocolate into different sizes with some being tiny and others being larger chunks, so the orange taste would be more evident, as I’m still not a baking extraordinaire and have no idea what I’m doing it was a lot of guessing.
5. Divide the dough into equal sized balls, and then gently squash them onto the tray. Remember the cookies will grow in the oven, so don’t make them too big and be sure to leave plenty of space between them. I definitely made a few cookies too big, and I didn’t push them down enough, as they ended up sliding around on the butter, but it did no damage.
6 . Bake for 11 minutes
7 . Remove from the tray and let them cool on a wire rack
That was How to Bake Chocolate Orange Cookies.
