Lush Graveyard Status: Discontinued
This post is a nostalgic archive review of the Lush Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb, which has sadly been retired from the Christmas lineup since I first wrote this! If you miss this colourful festive favourite as much as I do, or want to see what my current, intentional low-buy beauty routine looks like, head over to my YSL Libre Perfume Review.
When it comes to festive bathing, this Christmas bath bomb was an absolute staple. Originally released all the way back in 2013, it returned to the holiday lineups year after year with just a few minor design tweaks along the way.
Looking back at its run, I can completely see why it became a regular seasonal icon. It was absolutely stunning (spoiler alert!). Let’s dive into my original review of this colourful holiday treat and see how it holds up in our memories.

The Scent Profile: A Calming Classic
This festive bomb shared its scent family with the iconic Twilight from the permanent collection, which is a massive crowd-pleaser. The formula contained a soothing blend of:
-
Lavender Oil
-
Ylang Ylang Oil
-
Tonka Absolute
-
Benzoin Resinoid
It was incredibly calming and the perfect scent profile to use right at the end of a long day to help you unwind. My only minor critique at the time was that it didn’t feel like a traditionally “festive” holiday scen. I would have loved something a bit more spicy and warming, similar to the old Christmas Sweater bath bomb. However, because the cosy Twilight blend is so beautiful, I didn’t mind too much.
In The Water: Explosive Bath Art
Once you dropped this into the tub, it immediately released a vivid rainbow of bright colors, including yellow, orange, green, blue, and pink.
Unlike some bath bombs that take ages to slowly dissolve (cough Rocket Science cough), this was a very fast, satisfying fizzer. It only took a couple of minutes to completely dissolve, leaving a trail of gorgeous, bright foam in its wake.
The performance was stunningly vibrant. Once the initial rainbow swirls began to settle and fade together, you were left with the most gorgeous, deep pink bath water.

he Price & The Aftermath
The Price: At the time, this was considered one of the more expensive bath bombs in the shop at £4.50. You technically could have cut it in half to get two uses out of it, but then you would have totally missed out on seeing all those magnificent colours exploding at once.
The Clean-Up: Once the bath was over, I did have to give the tub a quick clean. The rich pink pigment didn’t want to rinse away easily in a few spots. Thankfully, it vanished quickly with a soft cloth and some warm water, but it’s always something to consider if you absolutely hate post-bath scrubbing.

Overall Verdict
I fully expected to find myself repurchasing this year after year. Everything about it was fantastic—from the vibrant, colourful bath art to the beautiful deep pink end result. While a slightly more spicy, festive scent would have boosted it to perfection, it remained a gorgeous piece of holiday luxury.
While it has since been retired from the annual holiday collection to make room for new innovations, it will always be remembered as a true hall-of-fame favourite for creating the ultimate colourful bath art.
