Looking for something fresh?
This post is a fun archive of a product review I wrote back in 2019! My shopping habits and beauty routine have changed quite a bit since then. If you want to see my updated, current low-buy beauty favourites, head over to one of my empties post!
Let’s take a trip back to the spring of 2019! Today, I’m pulling a single product out of the archives for a total “Where Are They Now?” review.
Originally launched as part of the Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day line, the Lush Madame President Bath Bomb was one of the most visually striking pieces Lush had released in a long time.
Looking back at my original notes, I have to laugh at my past self complaining about the price. At the time, this was the most expensive bath bomb in the entire seasonal collection, totalling a whopping… £4.50. Oh, if only 2019 me could see what bath bombs cost today!
Let’s look back at how this vibrant bomb performed in the water and whether it stood the test of time.

The Design & First Impressions
Right off the shelf, the design of Madame President was an absolute showstopper. The colours were incredibly vibrant, making it stand out from the rest of the pastel Mother’s Day collection immediately.
It featured a split design:
-
Side One: A bright sky-blue base decorated with four crisp white stars.
-
Side Two: A hot pink base featuring one large, metallic gold star.
The Scent Profile
To be completely honest, I wasn’t entirely keen on the scent when I first smelled it in my haul. It did grow on me a little bit, but it wasn’t a total love. It contained a blend of Grapefruit Oil and Petitgrain Oil, which created a very crisp, fresh, and slightly sharp fruity scent.
Because it was part of the Mother’s Day collection, I actually asked my mum for her opinion on the fragrance list. Interestingly, this was one of her absolute favourites out of the entire batch! The only downside for me was its longevity, after about five minutes of soaking in the tub, the fresh throw completely faded away.
The Bath Art: Creating “Cadbury Purple” Water
As soon as Madame President hit the water, it got straight to work. This was a very fast fizzer, meaning you didn’t have to wait around forever for the show to finish.

The blue and pink sides immediately swirled together, creating a gorgeous, deep purple. The best way to describe the final colour is Cadbury purple, it was incredibly rich and regal.
Where Are They Now?
So, did Madame President secure a permanent seat in government? Sadly, no.
This bath bomb was a fleeting limited-edition launch for the 2019 spring season and was subsequently retired to the great Lush graveyard in the sky. While the grapefruit/ petitgrain scent family hasn’t made a massive, permanent comeback in this exact shape, the stunning two-tone colour split technique is something Lush still uses today for their heavy-hitting holiday bombs.
Looking back, it was a beautiful piece of bath art.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Do you remember the Lush Madame President Bath Bomb, or did you miss out on this 2019 launch? What is the most you’ve ever spent on a single bath bomb?
Thank you for reading!
