Empties #13: Honest Reviews of Fenty, Charlotte Tilbury, & Sol De Janeiro

Makeup and skincare products laid out on a white background. Brands include sol de janeiro, the inkey list, Tree hutThis post contains affiliate links which means I may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link.

It may be a running joke that my empties posts are years apart, and it may appear that this post has been posted two years later. BUT, I have had this post in my drafts ready to go since 2024. I know it doesn’t sound compelling, but let me have this.

AND that’s not it. It’s also my first time finishing a whole lip gloss. Again, it might not seem like a big deal, but I’m pretty sure it’s the first lip product that I’ve gotten through. Let’s see what I’ve gotten through and included in this beauty empties review.

Fenty | Fu$$y Gloss Bomb

Can we just take a moment of silence to appreciate a lip gloss finally making it into a beauty empties post? Especially after successfully making it through, not one, but TWO project pans; I thought this thing was never-ending. I’m pretty sure this is the first gloss I’ve ever used up, but I’ve made it no secret how much I love it. Fu$$y is a beautiful pink and the formula is so comfortable.

Repurchase?: Yes, it’s stunning.

I Heart Revolution | Tropical Pomegranate Lip Oil

I Heart Revolution Tropical Lip Oil for beauty empties review

This product was gifted, but all opinions are my own.

I love a lip oil and this is a good one. It glides over the lips and leaves a subtle pink tint. It is very subtle, but it makes it very wearable so it goes with everything. I found that it moisturised my lips, and I reached for it all of the time. It doesn’t last a crazy amount of time, but I find that’s to be expected from a lip oil. Also I know this looks like it still has product in it, but I cannot get it out.

Repurchase?: Yes, I really enjoyed this lip oil.

Charlotte Tilbury | Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

Used up bottle of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

I love a good setting spray and I enjoyed using this one. For me, a makeup look is not complete without setting spray. I find that they are key to melting everything together and help me look less dry; which is always a good thing. It helps that this contains Aloe Vera and Jasmine Green Tea, as both of those help to leave the skin looking hydrated and smooth. This means it’s a great choice if you have dry skin. As I know the cult classic; All Nighter from Urban Decay can be a little harsh to those of us on the dry side.

Anyway, back to this. I did really enjoy using it, but I am hoping to find a cheaper alternative, as I do not fancy dropping £32 on a setting spray. If you know of a great Charlotte Tilbury setting spray dupe, please let me know!

Repurchase?: If it wasn’t so expensive.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Dipbrow Gel

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel used up for a project pan

I added this to my 2023 project pan, and as you can see I actually managed to use it up! It’s been on it’s way out for a while, but I just wanted it gone. It’s a great brow gel, but I can’t justify the price. I use a brow gel just to go over my brows to make them a little bit darker so they match my hair. £19 is just too much for that.

Repurchase?: No. I’d like to find something more affordable.

ColourPop | No Filter Setting Powder

Empty pot of ColourPop No Filter Setting Powder

Powders last an extremely long time in my collection, so it’s not surprising that this is very old. Luckily it’s empty before we reached its fifth birthday, but it was a close one. I love a powder to set, but I’m not a baker, so even a small pot like this can last me four years apparently…

This is a really lovely powder. It sets makeup beautifully and looks great on the under eyes. I never had any flashback and it never accentuated any dry patches. I probably would be more willing to repurchase if ColourPop was easier to get in the UK.

Repurchase?: No, mainly because shopping with ColourPop isn’t the easiest in the UK.

Tree Hut | Coco Colada Whipped Shea Body Butter

Empty tub of Coco Colada body butter from Tree Hut for beauty empties review

I have wanted to try Tree Hut for years. I’ve seen their products all over Instagram for the longest time, so I got very excited when TK Maxx dropped a range of scrubs and body butters. At first, I wasn’t sure whether or not to get a body butter, as I can be quite fussy with them. I hate the ones that take ages to absorb, so I was nervous to try this one.

Luckily, it’s not like that. It absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling soft and smelling amazing. Coco Colada is a coconut and pineapple scent, which is one of my all-time favourite combinations. It’s literally summer in a tub.

Repurchase?: Definitely

The Inkey List | Polyglutamic Acid Serum

Empty packaging of The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Serum - Beauty Empties Review

This product was gifted, but all opinions are my own.

Ooooh I loved this. First things first, I’m not very clued up on technical skincare, so you will not be seeing a science lecture here. Like, what is polyglutamic acid? Who knows! (Not me, which is quite concerning as I’ve clearly used up the whole bottle).

However, I loved it. For anyone else with dry skin looking for hydration, this serum really locks in moisture, and it’s lightweight, which means it absorbs quickly. I liked to use this in the morning as a base for my makeup, and it kept my foundation in place all day. I found that this really helped my dry skin routine when layered with other products.

Repurchase?: Yes! I really enjoyed it.

Sol de Janeiro | Bum Bum Cream

Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream

Let’s end on a classic. I know this has been popular for years now, and I’m sad that I waited until 2024 to try it. The pistachio- caramel scent is gorgeous and perfect for summer. I used this as a general moisturiser, so I can’t comment on the claims that it firms and tightens. It’s nourishing, but I wouldn’t say that it’s anything special. Other than the scent which I adore.

Repurchase?: No, there are other moisturisers that I prefer.

What beauty products have you used up recently? Have you tried any of these? Let me know in the comments below!

Omg, I’m so tempted by the setting spray!!! Why are all the Tilbury products so expensive?? Ugh. And I also want to try something from tree hut, so your review has me thinking about it now!

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it a lot!

It’s a good one! I know, it’s literally the only thing wrong with the brand haha! I love their moisturisers, they have them in TK Maxx sometimes, so it’s always worth a look. Hope you love them if you try something! It’s no problem, thank you for stopping by! That means the world, thank you so much!

Real talk family dinner review!🤍 (Gifted/ invite) Real talk family dinner review!🤍
(Gifted/ invite)

We treated the kids to a meal out at weathervanemeirpark this weekend, and the family vibes were lovely. One of the biggest wins was that the staff brought over colouring pages and crayons for both kids without us even having to ask. Which is a lifesaver with two toddlers🥵

Noah and Ella were completely won over by the food. Noah cleared his plate of sausage, chips, and beans, and Ella was living her best life with pasta, corn on the cob, and chips (a toddler dream combo, let’s be real😂)

As for the adults, Jake loved The Big Melt burger. I ordered the Katsu Curry Feast, and we did have a little hiccup where my chicken looked a little pink, but I always judge a place by how they handle mistakes. The staff were absolutely brilliant, replaced it immediately, and even brought over a complimentary drink to apologise. Great customer service honestly makes all the difference.🫶🏻

It’s a super welcoming, stress free spot if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids this weekend.

Swipe to the very end to see Ella making sure no ice cream got left behind😂

What’s your ultimate go to meal when you eat out with the family?🍽️

Yesterday we headed to Drayton Manor for the first time, and we absolutely loved it! 🚂

The highlights:

🎢 We managed to hit all the rides we wanted.

⏱️ Queue times were super manageable—the longest we waited was 30 minutes, which is the absolute limit with a 1 and 3-year-old! 😂

🥵 It was too hot to make it to the zoo this time, but with animal-loving toddlers, we will definitely be back to check it out. 🐯
