Transparency Note & Update
The products featured in this review were kindly gifted to me by Bali Body. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I will completely admit that before testing this range, I was an absolute newbie to the fake tanning scene. In the past, I only ever enjoyed products that were fast to apply and didn’t last very long, which was entirely down to me being a bit lazy.
That was until I tried this lineup. When I first used it, I didn’t leave it to develop for long enough, which led to me pushing it to the side. However, when I finally decided to give it a proper second chance, I fell in love.
A huge thank you to the team over at Bali Body for sending this lovely parcel my way. Bali Body is an Australian-based, 100% vegan beauty brand that offers everything from self-tan to sun care and cosmetics. Today, I’m breaking down their Self Tan Heroes Set alongside their viral BB Cream to let you know what is truly worth your money.
Dark Self Tanning Mousse (£25.95)
My absolute favourite thing about this formula is the built-in guide colour. As a beginner, this was a total game-changer because it makes it incredibly easy to see exactly where you’ve applied the product and catch any spots you might have missed.
-
Application & Texture: I apply this using the Bali Body velvet mitt, which leaves me with a completely streak-free finish that never looks patchy. The liquid dries down relatively quickly. It does stay a little bit tacky for a short while afterward, but it’s nothing major and it doesn’t stop me from getting dressed.
-
The Development: It does tend to transfer slightly onto my clothes while developing, but it has always come out completely clean in the wash. I now leave this to develop overnight, and the final result is a flawless, cool-toned bronze that doesn’t lean orange at all! It’s the first tan that has genuinely made me want to repurchase it.
Key Ingredients:
-
Coffee Seed Extract: A powerful antioxidant to keep the skin looking youthful and smooth.
-
Coconut Oil: Natural hydration to prime the skin for a seamless fade.
-
Pomegranate Extract: Rich in Vitamin C to fight signs of aging and promote a youthful glow.
-
100% Natural DHA: Paraben-free and entirely clear of that dreaded, artificial “biscuit scent” common in high-street tans!
Face Tan Water (£25.95)
Discontinued

This was a fantastic, skin-loving addition to my evening skincare routine. Instead of splashing it on with my hands, I preferred to apply it with a cotton pad in place of my usual toner—I found this method was much quicker, cleaner, and spread the liquid more evenly.
-
The Results: My favorite thing about this water was how beautifully it evens out my skin tone. While a tiny bit of my natural redness still peeked through (I have very red cheeks that are hard to cover at the best of times), it created a gorgeous, healthy base.
-
The Downside: Because it was a completely clear water, I had to be incredibly thorough with my application. I definitely ended up with a couple of accidental white patches on days where I missed a spot.
-
Where Is It Now?: Bali Body has since discontinued this liquid formula to make room for their newer self-tanning drops and serums. If you were a fan of this water, you’ll have to look to their newer launches for a facial glow.
Key Ingredients:
-
Sodium Hyaluronate: Derived from hyaluronic acid to deeply plump and hydrate the skin.
-
Jojoba Oil: Provided lightweight moisture to combat fine lines while calming breakout-prone skin.
-
Rose Water: Naturally tightened pores and toned the skin while giving the product its lovely, delicate floral scent.
Luxe Moisturising Lotion (£16.95)
Discontinued

This was unfortunately the only product in the collection that didn’t work for me, and that was solely due to the fragrance. It featured a very strong grapefruit scent. Grapefruit happens to be my least favorite scent in the world, and because the aroma really lingered on the skin, it completely put me off using it.
-
The Formula: Performance-wise, I couldn’t fault it. It did a fantastic job of deeply moisturising the skin, felt incredibly lightweight, and sank in almost instantly.
-
Where Is It Now?: Bali Body has officially archived this lotion. Since I couldn’t get past the scent, I’m not heartbroken about it, but if you were a fan of the formula, it is sadly no longer available on their site.
Key Ingredients:
-
Shea Butter & Aloe Vera: A powerhouse duo that delivered intense, deep hydration to soothe dry skin or sunburns.
-
Camellia Tea Extract: Protected the skin barrier from environmental radicals while working to minimize the appearance of scarring.
BB Cream SPF15 (25.95)
This dewy BB cream is available in four adaptive shades, and I tested the shade Natural (the second lightest option).
-
The Finish: It glides effortlessly over the skin to leave behind a beautiful, healthy, radiant glow. While I generally prefer a fuller, more matte coverage when I am at home, this lightweight texture is absolutely perfect for packing in a holiday travel bag when you want a minimal, breathable skin tint.
Key Ingredients:
-
Hyaluronic Acid & Marine Collagen: Seaweed-derived actives that work together to visibly firm, plump, and lock in moisture.
-
Green Tea Extract: A soothing antioxidant shield to protect the skin from daily damage.
The Ultimate Verdict: Hit or Miss?
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with my introduction to Bali Body! While the grapefruit moisturiser was a personal scent miss for me, the collection as a whole is a massive hit. The Dark Self Tanning Mousse is undoubtedly the star of the show for anyone looking for a foolproof, golden bronze without the orange tones or the chemical smell.

It’s great that this brand is vegan! I had never heard about Bali Body before, but I really like their aesthetics. The face tan water sounds great! I don’t do fake tan on my body (never have, and I think it scares me a little!) however this sounds like a really nice product to use for its other benefits and also to get a nice, healthy-looking complexion! Thank you for sharing, Hannah!

I’ve never been a massive fake tan person but this really makes me want to try! What better time when I can’t see anyone for the next 3 weeks if it goes wrong hahah x
That is so true haha, it’s a lot of time to practice! I’ve found that the guide colour makes this easier than the clear ones xx
I’m not one for fake tan, mainly through fear of turning into an Oompa Loomp C’s Donald Trump, but this is one snazzy looking brand x
Fake tan isn’t for everyone, but thank you for stopping by! They definitely have the packaging nailed xx
wow this sounds like such a great brand – I must go and check them out! The face tan sounds amazing, i love anything with rosewater! 🙂 x
It really is! I hope you enjoy them, if you decide to pick something up! It’s a great product xx
The Bali body stuff sounds really good, \I used to be obsessed with fake tan but after constantly being patchy and having the awful burnt cookie smell with every application I kind of got turned off from it lol. I Love a good skin glow and know how harmful the sun is so would much rather get a tan from a bottle, no damaging my skin then so will definitely be looking into Bali body!
