Beauty Update: The Ultimate Lip Stash
While three of these formulas are still my ride-or-die daily staples, two have sadly been discontinued since this went live. I have flagged the discontinued shades below and shared my heartbreak over losing my absolute favourite shade of all time.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a dedicated lip roundup, so I thought I would throw it back and go through five of my ultimate everyday nude lipsticks.
They are all in a very similar colour family (because let’s be honest, I’m not the type to reach for a bold red lipstick daily). I’ve also cheated just a little bit, as I’ve included easy lip crayons and shiny glosses alongside the traditional bullet lipsticks.
Looking back at this post a few years later, the beauty graveyard has unfortunately claimed two of these products. Let’s look at the breakdown of my go-to shades, including the discontinued icon I am still completely gutted about losing.
Charlotte Tilbury | Bitch Perfect
I have been reaching for this lipstick a lot recently, and I’m honestly so sad that I didn’t discover it sooner! Bitch Perfect is a gorgeous, peachy-toned nude. It belongs to Charlotte Tilbury’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G range, which features a much more hydrating and creamy formula than her matte lines. It is such a flattering, comfortable nude that is perfect for special occasions. Because it’s so creamy, it isn’t drying at all, though you will definitely need to reapply it throughout the day.
MAC | Faux Satin Lipstick
Discontinued
I am absolutely gutted to write this, but MAC has officially discontinued Faux. This was my all-time favourite lipstick, and it will always hold a special spot in my makeup collection (and heart). Faux featured a Satin formula, which gave it a stunning semi-matte finish that was never drying. It applied beautifully with an incredible colour payoff. It was the perfect mauve-pink nude shade that went with absolutely every single makeup look. I always kept this in my bag to reapply after eating and drinking.

Maybelline | Trust Your Gut Lip Crayon
These lip crayons are unlike any others I’ve tried before. Usually, lip crayons are quite sheer and hydrating, but this Maybelline formula is incredibly creamy and dries down to a rich, long-wearing matte finish. Trust Your Gut is a stunning mid-tone nude that makes for the perfect day-to-day lip colour. The crayon glides on effortlessly, and while it requires a quick touch-up after a meal, it is the ultimate travel friendly lip product. There is even a built-in sharpener hidden at the bottom for extra precision!
ColourPop | Shaka Lip Crayon
Discontinued
In the colder months, I always like to keep something light, balmy, and nourishing in my pocket, and this was my go-to choice. It was a very hydrating crayon that managed to pack a surprising amount of colour payoff despite its ultra creamy texture. The lasting power wasn’t great, meaning you had to be willing to reapply it numerous times throughout the day. Shaka was a flattering, sheer, yellow-toned nude. My only complaint was the scent—it had a very strong, artificial passionfruit smell, though thankfully that disappeared completely once it was applied. ColourPop has since archived this entire line, making it another retro favourite!
Fenty | Fu$$y Lip Gloss
First of all, this smells absolutely amazing! It has a very sweet, vanilla-peach scent that is incredibly addictive (though it might not be for you if you are highly sensitive to fragrance). I have been pairing this gloss with absolutely everything lately because it matches all of my favourite everyday nude lipsticks perfectly. Fussy is a beautiful, shimmering dusty pink. The formula is not sticky or tacky at all, but it delivers amazing pigment and a high-shine, plump finish. If you’re hunting for a high-quality gloss, you truly can’t go wrong with Fenty.

The Low-Buy Reflection
Looking back at this 2020 lineup reminds me why I’ve shifted toward a much more intentional beauty routine today. When your absolute holy grail (RIP MAC Faux) gets discontinued, it really teaches you not to over-hoard makeup, because formulas change and products disappear so quickly. These days, I stick to a tight capsule collection of reliable staples that I know will always perform.

My friend bought me the fenty lipgloss and oh my god i loveeee it!! I dont tend to really wear lipstick much anymore but when i do im reminded why i have so many in my makeup collection hahah!
