The Body Shop Body Milk Review: Discontinued Holy Grail?

The Body Shop Body Milk Review

The Archive Update: A Discontinued Classic

If you’ve landed on this page because you were desperately searching the internet trying to restock your favourite spray on moisturiser, I have some sad news. The Body Shop has officially discontinued their iconic Body Milks.

While you can no longer buy these exact spray bottles on the high street, I couldn’t bring myself to delete this review. It is an absolute favourite archive post of mine, mostly because I absolutely loved these moisturisers.

I’ve left my original review untouched below for the pure beauty nostalgia.

My Original Body Shop Body Milk Review

A couple of months ago, I seriously would not shut up about these products. I even included them in my 2017 yearly favourites because I love them so much! After months and months of putting it off, the time has finally come to sit down and write a full review.

(I’ve also just realised that it wasn’t actually a few months ago; it was last year… so there’s that. Ah, how time flies!)

Let’s get straight into The Body Shop Body Milk review.

What is it?

In short, it’s a body moisturiser, but it has a very thin consistency. Because the liquid formula is so lightweight, it absorbs into the skin almost instantly. This means you aren’t left feeling sticky or tacky for hours after applying it, which we all know is the absolute worst feeling when you’re trying to get dressed.

The Scents

The Body Shop Body Milk Review

The Scents & A Co-op Confession

These originally came in two core scents: Coconut and Moringa.

  • Coconut: This scent is extremely tropical and serves as a brilliant option to pack in your suitcase for holidays.

  • Moringa: This is a soft, elegant floral and acts as a much more classic, everyday daytime scent.

The Sizes & Costs

The Body Shop offered these in two distinct sizes: a 60ml travel bottle or a 250ml full-size bottle.

The 60ml bottle cost £3 and the 250ml was £8.50. I always suggested splurging on the bigger size because the custom spray bottle mechanism was just so convenient. Because the formula is so thin, the spray bottle allowed it to mist evenly over the skin, or you could easily spray it straight into your hands first. For some strange reason, if you preferred the tiny travel size, you couldn’t get the Moringa scent at all!

The Body Shop Body Milk Sprays

Does it Actually Work?

Yes… but only if you use it daily.

I noticed that the hydrating benefits hang around for about 24 hours, and then I’m right back to being half lizard again, which obviously isn’t ideal! On the website, the description states: ‘use daily for skin that feels nourished and irresistibly soft to the touch’.

When it says use daily, it really means it. You absolutely get that beautifully soft, nourished feel, but only if you commit to reapplying it every single day.

When to Use It?

Because it is so lightweight and quick to absorb, it makes the ultimate post shower holiday moisturiser. It’s brilliant to quickly spray on right before you head out for an evening meal in the sun. Plus, who doesn’t want to smell like a giant coconut on holiday?

Overall, these are really great, and the spray bottle format is the biggest convenience. Next up on my wish list, I really want to try their Body Yogurts, as you can apparently go a whole 48 hours with those!

Let’s Chat in the Comments!

Did you ever get a chance to try the Body Milks before they disappeared from the shelves?

Thank you so much for reading!

I have a problem with products that have to be used everyday. I tend to forget about certain things – like my phone from a table at a restaurant (happened to me several times) or my jacket so I won’t be able to remember about a beauty product either. I wanted to check a product from The Body Shop and I think I might try it out. Btw. your story about the crazy customer made me crave Malibu way too much than it should!

I used to shop at the body shop before I moved to France as it was so close to me – I once spent hundreds in there when I was like 12, had acne and was desperate to get rid of my spots, so I suppose I could say they were my first real experience with skincare! x I love their body care because it always feels so luxurious! I’d love to try this out, especially the moringa one (like you, I’d never manage to get daily use out of it) as I’ve tried their moringa body sorbet and it was my favourite product for like a year – the smell, JHEEZ! x Lovely post babes! x

Real talk family dinner review!🤍 (Gifted/ invite) Real talk family dinner review!🤍
(Gifted/ invite)

We treated the kids to a meal out at weathervanemeirpark this weekend, and the family vibes were lovely. One of the biggest wins was that the staff brought over colouring pages and crayons for both kids without us even having to ask. Which is a lifesaver with two toddlers🥵

Noah and Ella were completely won over by the food. Noah cleared his plate of sausage, chips, and beans, and Ella was living her best life with pasta, corn on the cob, and chips (a toddler dream combo, let’s be real😂)

As for the adults, Jake loved The Big Melt burger. I ordered the Katsu Curry Feast, and we did have a little hiccup where my chicken looked a little pink, but I always judge a place by how they handle mistakes. The staff were absolutely brilliant, replaced it immediately, and even brought over a complimentary drink to apologise. Great customer service honestly makes all the difference.🫶🏻

It’s a super welcoming, stress free spot if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids this weekend.

Swipe to the very end to see Ella making sure no ice cream got left behind😂

Yesterday we headed to Drayton Manor for the first time, and we absolutely loved it! 🚂

⏱️ Queue times were super manageable—the longest we waited was 30 minutes, which is the absolute limit with a 1 and 3-year-old! 😂

🥵 It was too hot to make it to the zoo this time, but with animal-loving toddlers, we will definitely be back to check it out. 🐯
