My Third Trimester

40 weeks already. Where has the time gone? My second trimester seemed to last forever, but I feel like I’ve blinked and missed the past few months. It’s been a whirlwind, and I can’t believe that I’m coming to the end of this journey. In fact as this post goes live, I’ll be at the hospital, which is very strange to think about.

This is my third trimester.

Symptoms

Unlike previous trimesters, I’ve had quite a few different symptoms creep in this time. Here are some of them:

Insomnia: I’ve never experienced Insomnia before, but from 39 weeks onwards it’s been pretty constant. For some reason I’m just not tired at night. I’ll be tired all day, but as soon as I get into bed I’m wide awake and it is very annoying.

My Mental Health Slipped: This one has been hard, as I’ve felt anxiety creeping in and it’s been hard to push through. It’s had nothing to do with the pregnancy and more to do with socialising. I’ve not wanted to socialise and I’ll admit that I’ve isolated myself a little. At the moment things have picked up and I’m feeling much better, but I’ve definitely had wobbles along the way.

Tiredness: It feels a little strange to have insomnia and still be extremely tired. For some reason I can stay awake all night, but as soon as 4pm hits I’m ready for bed and falling asleep on the sofa.

Heartburn/ Acid Reflux: Luckily I haven’t struggled majorly with this, but when it hits; it hits. It kicked in from 39 weeks, and I felt it most nights. We didn’t actually have anything in the house for me to take when I first experienced it, so I was googling everything to try and find a remedy. Luckily drinking milk took it right off, and ever since I did that, it hasn’t been as bad.

Nesting, Nesting and More Nesting

I’d heard about nesting quite early on in my pregnancy, but I didn’t think it would hit me as hard as it did. I’ll admit that I’m usually quite a messy person, but nowadays I want to clean everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. I’ve cleaned the walls; and got into pretty much every nook and cranny.

I’ve also wanted to get everything ready for little mans arrival, and it was stressing me out that we were 30 weeks in and we still didn’t have furniture set up. Which meant I did certain things by myself, because I just couldn’t wait. The anxiety of not having it done, was a lot worse than doing it myself. In the end I set up the next to me bed, and the rocker. I’m glad that I did it, as I never used to believe that I could do tasks like that, but now I know that I can.

The Cravings

This is pretty much a follow on from My Second Trimester, as not much has changed. I’ve not had any weird cravings, and I’d say I’ve not really had many cravings at all. At the beginning I craved literally everything, but nowadays the cravings are few and far between.

I’ve craved Jaffa Cakes a lot, and I dread to think how many boxes of them I’ve gone through. Even though they weren’t my favourite pre-pregnancy.

This might be a slightly weird one actually, but I’ve loved eating ice cubes. Every evening I’ll fill a glass with ice and have it with some water and I love it.

Maternity Wear

I wasn’t sure to include this, as I’ve been pretty boring. I’ve brought slim to none maternity clothes, and instead I’ve had the same few outfits on repeat. From pretty early on in my pregnancy I couldn’t stand to have a waistband on my stomach. The slightest bit of pressure set my sickness off, so I’ve only been able to wear: dresses, skirts that can be worn above the bump or trousers around my hips.

How I’m Feeling About Labour

I thought I’d end on this one, considering labour could be any day now. In my second trimester the thought of labour didn’t phase me at all, but now that  it’s something that’s going to happen soon; I’m a little more nervous. I feel prepared, as I don’t think there’s an aspect that I haven’t researched. Which has really helped, and I’m going into it with a very open mind. If I can have a vaginal birth then great, but if I can’t then that’s fine too. Whatever happens, happens and I’m perfectly fine with that.

There we have it, that was My Third Trimester.

I can’t believe that’s all three of them posted; where have the nine months gone?!

Thank you for reading.

Pregnancy is not for sissies thats for sure. I am not surprised about the insomnia. I have something called PMDD which is caused a hormonal inbalance and is extreme PMS and insomnia is one of main problems with it. Hormones play a huge role in sleep. I have been dealing with it since my early teens. I hope it clears up for you. My friend had bad insomnia after she had the baby but it subsided after a while. I think she was on medication for a bit. Hormonal problems run in my family they are not fun. But at least you will get a baby out if LOL. Yes just go with the flow and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Current mood: Sitting by a pool in Greece sipping a freddo cappuccino😍

Actual reality: Staring at my kettle in the UK wishing it could do magic tricks😭

Is it actually worth investing in a proper coffee machine? And more importantly, which one should I get?

I actually only like iced coffee, so I’m not sure if a machine is for me, but there’s got to be a way… right?😭😂

Real talk family dinner review!🤍 (Gifted/ invite) Real talk family dinner review!🤍
(Gifted/ invite)

We treated the kids to a meal out at weathervanemeirpark this weekend, and the family vibes were lovely. One of the biggest wins was that the staff brought over colouring pages and crayons for both kids without us even having to ask. Which is a lifesaver with two toddlers🥵

Noah and Ella were completely won over by the food. Noah cleared his plate of sausage, chips, and beans, and Ella was living her best life with pasta, corn on the cob, and chips (a toddler dream combo, let’s be real😂)

As for the adults, Jake loved The Big Melt burger. I ordered the Katsu Curry Feast, and we did have a little hiccup where my chicken looked a little pink, but I always judge a place by how they handle mistakes. The staff were absolutely brilliant, replaced it immediately, and even brought over a complimentary drink to apologise. Great customer service honestly makes all the difference.🫶🏻

It’s a super welcoming, stress free spot if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids this weekend.

Swipe to the very end to see Ella making sure no ice cream got left behind😂

What’s your ultimate go to meal when you eat out with the family?🍽️

🩵 Father’s Day at @draytonmanor 🩵 Yesterday we he 🩵 Father’s Day at @draytonmanor 🩵

Yesterday we headed to Drayton Manor for the first time, and we absolutely loved it! 🚂

The highlights:

🎢 We managed to hit all the rides we wanted.

⏱️ Queue times were super manageable—the longest we waited was 30 minutes, which is the absolute limit with a 1 and 3-year-old! 😂

🥵 It was too hot to make it to the zoo this time, but with animal-loving toddlers, we will definitely be back to check it out. 🐯

Have you been to Drayton Manor before?

What’s your ultimate tip for taking toddlers to theme parks in the heat? 👇🏼
