The Archive Check: Look Who’s Back
Well, well, well, look who’s made a comeback. After last year’s project pan didn’t exactly go 100% to plan (turns out finishing ten products when you’re barely wearing makeup is quite hard), I wanted to bring it back.
The starting lineup has a few familiar faces, but I’ve swapped out a couple of elements with the plan to bring them back as replacements later. I am fully determined to work my way through more than four products this time around!
What is a Project Pan?
If you missed my previous posts, let me quickly recap the concept. I have hand-selected ten beauty products from my stash that I either want to use up completely or hit pan on.
The goal is to focus heavily on these specific items until their targets are met. Once something is completely finished, a new product will be rolled into rotation.
The 2023 Starting Lineup
Charlotte Tilbury | Dancefloor Princess Lipstick
Discontinued

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: Our first of many returning products. I managed to make some decent visual progress on this last year, and I’m determined to get it finished. Dancefloor Princess is a gorgeous pink with an incredibly comfortable, creamy formula, making it the perfect choice for a fuss-free everyday lip.
Charlotte Tilbury | Flawless Filter

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: To be completely honest, I’m shocked this bottle has lasted this long. It seems to go on forever! While I spent the first half of 2022 hating on it, it actually became a firm favourite in the second half of the year. It adds a beautiful, subtle glow to the skin, but I am officially ready to see it finished and out of my collection.
Fenty | Fu$$y Gloss Bomb

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: I’ve included this again because I really want it gone. Funnily enough, I’ve actually never completely finished a lip gloss before, so it will be highly satisfying to finally tick that box. It lives in my handbag at all times, so I just need to make a conscious effort to keep reapplying it throughout the day.
Fenty | Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: Our very first newbie for 2023! This loose powder feels like it has been sitting in my collection for absolute ages. I’ve really enjoyed using the it, but it’s high time to get it used up and cleared out.
Maybelline | Fit Me Concealer

The 2023 Goal: Use one up.
The Strategy: I have two of these open in the exact same formula and shade. It’s been pretty hard to see how much product is left through the packaging, but I’ve picked one specific tube that I’m going to focus on until it’s empty.
ColourPop | That’s Taupe Eyeshadow Palette

The 2023 Goal: Hit pan on two shades.
The Strategy: I really wanted to include a cool toned eyeshadow palette this year. This one was on my wish list for the longest time, but I’ve barely touched it since buying it. That definitely needs to change!
Maybelline | Sky High Mascara

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: I’ll be completely honest… I forgot I even owned this. While hunting through my drawers for this post, I stumbled across it and knew it had to go into the project. Forgetting you own a product isn’t usually a great sign, so it will be interesting to rediscover the formula.
Soap and Glory | Supercat

The 2023 Goal: Use one up completely.
The Strategy: Just like the concealer, I have somehow managed to end up with two half used pens. It’s time to focus on one and get it gone.
Anastasia Beverly Hills | Amrezy Highlighter
Discontinued

The 2023 Goal: Hit pan.
The Strategy: This is probably the item that is going to give me the most trouble. I’ve owned it for ages and it looks barely touched, even though I’ve used it tons! The baked formula is incredibly dense, but I really want to see that waffle pan pattern peeking through.
Urban Decay | All Nighter Setting Spray

The 2023 Goal: Use it up completely.
The Strategy: You may be surprised to hear that I have two of these on the go as well. I’m not quite sure how this keeps happening to me, to be honest. It’s a bit of a joke at this point, so I’m strictly focusing on one bottle until it clicks empty.
The Final Verdict
There we have it, my official project pan introduction lineup for 2023! I’ll be posting regular update posts right here throughout the year with progress photos, final tallies, and product switches where applicable.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Are you jumping into a project pan or a low-buy challenge this year? Do you also have a bad habit of opening two of the exact same concealers at once?
Thank you for reading!

First of all, I’m loving the new blog theme!
I do love the idea of Project Pan, it’s something I am trying to achieve with my eyeshadow palettes etc, I don’t want to keep buying new ones when I have some that need to be used! x

Aw, thank you so much! It feels very much overdue. That’s what got me into doing project pans, it feels so wasteful to keep buying more when stuff is going unused and expiring in the meantime xx
Love this! I keep meaning to do project pan every year. I managed to get my makeup collection down to only a few key items but I should definitely try to get through them before buying more!
I am so glad to hear that! You should try it, it’s fun to keep track of the progress and see things go down as you don’t notice it as its happening. That’s good! I definitely relate to you on that xx
Good luck! I should also focus on my Fu$$y and Fenty powder too! xx

Thank you! I hope you’re able to focus on them and get them finished xx
Thanks for sharing such a detailed review of all these products! Good luck getting them all finished too!
Feels like I haven’t used makeup in forever! These are some great options thanks for sharing.

Your new blog theme is absolutely gorgeous! I can really see where you’re coming from with the colour pop palette – I have a few lipsticks from urban decay I really wanted at the time but have barely touched since they showed up! It’s a shame they don’t get the use they should have and great that you’ve found a way to use the products so they aren’t wasted x
I did okay with my last Project pan, but I didn’t really continue updating anyone on how I did. I feel like I might make a new one this year, mainly cause it keeps me motivated to finish some things. I have that same Anastasia highlighter, and I feel the same way! I use it ever winter when I’m less tan, and it still looks brand new. Great post, can’t wait to see how you do this year xx

I still have yet to try the flawless filter! I ended up opting for the elf halo glow liquid filter since it’s supposed to be a dupe lol
