The Archive Check: A Rollercoaster Year for Makeup
Can you believe it’s time for the final update of 2022? I certainly cannot!
Even though it feels like I posted the original introduction a lifetime ago, so much has happened this year. Because my makeup habits shifted over the months, I didn’t get as much wear out of these products as I’d hoped, but we still have some serious progress (and actual empties) to celebrate.
Let’s dive into this project pan finale to see what actually got used up!
Note: For the visual progress, I’m using the original photos from when the products first appeared on the left, and the updated end of year shots on the right so you can see the real difference.
Charlotte Tilbury | Flawless Filter
The Final Verdict: You know how I’ve spent the majority of this year pretty much hating on this? Well, I finally found a way to apply it that works for my skin, and I have really enjoyed using it lately. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t think it’s a daily essential, but it’s very nice to have. I really thought I’d have this bottle finished by now, but the formula seems to be absolutely never ending!
Empty Status: Not yet.
Benefit | Hoola Bronzer

Original on the left, updated version on the right.
The Final Verdict: I’ve barely got any use out of this in the second half of the year, so it looks pretty much identical to how it did back in August. I only ever wear bronzer when I’ve fake tanned, and I’ve only tanned twice since my last update, so this spent most of autumn and winter sitting in my drawer.
Empty Status: The lack of use over the past two seasons has done this no favours.
Charlotte Tilbury | Dancefloor Princess
Discontinued

Original on the left and updated version on the right.
The Final Verdict: You can definitely see the visual usage on the bullet now, but it’s nowhere near as low as I wanted it to be. I am still completely in love with the pink shade and the creamy formula though, so I won’t struggle to keep using it into the new year.
Fenty | Fu$$y Gloss Bomb
The Final Verdict: This is another product that I was convinced would be done by now, but its survived. I just haven’t been reapplying my lip gloss throughout the day as much as usual. It is so close to being done, so I’m still counting it as a win.
Empty Status: Spoiler alert, this one eventually made it!
ColourPop | Koosh Super Shock Shadow
Discontinued

Original on the left and updated version on the right.
The Final Verdict: Honestly, I’m just glad this hasn’t dried out yet. I always enjoy using this shade, and as you can see from the dip, it is very well-loved. Just not quite empty yet.
Empty Status: This one actually became very hard to get out in the end, but didn’t make it this time around.
Lanolips | 101 Ointment Multi Balm Peach
The Final Verdict: After my August update, I completely prioritised this and finally got it finished. Yes, that’s right, we officially have an empty! Once I figured out how to warm the thick formula up properly to make it work for me, I really enjoyed using it.
Empty Status: Success! You can see what I thought of it, in this post.
Too Faced | Sweet Peach Palette
Discontinued

Original on the left and updated on the right.
The Final Verdict: I can’t quite believe how close I am to my final goals with this iconic palette. At the start of the year, I wanted to hit pan on one shade and completely finish two. I ended up hitting pan on two shades and completely finishing one. The shade Luscious is right on its way out too, so I’m incredibly happy with this progress.
Empty Status: I’d call this a massive success! I’ve actually put this palette into retirement now, as I think it’s gotten a little bit too old.
Soap and Glory | Thick and Fast Mascara
The Final Verdict: We have another empty! I enjoyed using this up over the last few months, but, I still definitely prefer Maybelline Lash Sensational.
Empty Status: Another empty!
Natasha Denona | Glam Palette

Original on the left and updated version on the right.
The Final Verdict: This palette was swapped into the project later in the year, and I’ve already made great headway. I set myself the goal of hitting pan on two shades. I’ve currently hit pan on one, so I’m officially halfway to my target.
Empty Status: I think I made great progress, with one pan, but not what I had in mind.
Charlotte Tilbury | Pretty Blushed Beauty Highlighter
Discontinued

Original on the left and updated on the right.
The Final Verdict: For this face palette, my focus was on the highlighter shade. I set myself the target of hitting pan by the end of the year, and I actually did it! It took a lot longer to break through the surface than I initially expected, but I’m so happy to see that shiny silver pan peeking through.
Empty Status: Goal reached!
The Final 2022 Scorecard
While it wasn’t quite the 10/10 clean sweep I dreamed of. It comes as no surprise since I barely wore makeup this year. Finishing four out of ten products is a great result!
My Final Empties & Goals Met:
-
Morphe Continuous Setting Spray
-
Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm Peach
-
Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara
-
Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Blushed Beauty Highlighter
The Final Verdict
There we have it, my official project pan finale for 2022! It feels amazing to clear these empties out of my collection and head into a brand new year of beauty rotations.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Did you do a project pan this year? How did you get on with your goals? And do you agree that the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter lasts forever?
Thank you for reading!

Wow. I love this post, even though I suck at makeup. Hopefully, one day I’ll learn. Merry Christmas. 🎄
Thank you so much! Aw, no! I don’t think I’m the best at it either, but I enjoy it so thats all that matters. Merry Christmas xx
This is a fun challenge, it’s good to use up the products you have before buying more! The glam palette has so many lovely shades x
I am so glad you think so! That is so true. It’s such a beautiful palette xx
Using products up before we get new ones is something we should all focus on as it cuts down on waste (as well as making careful decisions before we buy something). I do find that I have to work on this with make-up as I don’t wear it very often at the moment so need to adapt my purchasing habits accordingly. It’s good to see you do this; and such a cool bunch of stuff you’ve tried out!
I’m with you on that one. It definitely puts a stop to the over consumption, which can easily happen due to how much makeup gets released these days. I hope you’re able to find a way that works for you. Thank you so much!xx
I’ve only just recently started wearing make up so always looking for new products to try. This was helpful thank you x
I am so glad you found this helpful! It’s no problem, thank you for stopping by xx
That’s a good number of products used up! I’m glad that you are doing this, it’s honestly good to use up what you have first instead of buying more x
I am so glad you think so, thank you! That is so true. It’s definitely eye opening to see just how long these products take to use up completely xx
Such a good idea for a challenge! I try to buy the mini size palettes because I rarely use up the product. Happy Holidays!

I loved seeing your results for project pan 2022! I also have a lot of makeup I haven’t touched this year, but I found some on this list that I’d like to try. The Charlotte Tilbury lipstick looks so moisturizing! I also love the shades in the Natasha Denona palette! Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!
I loved seeing your project pan results, you made great progress this year! I didn’t wear makeup a lot this year either and tried to focus on only using what I have instead of buying more new products. Thanks for sharing this, wishing you all the best for 2023! 🙂

It might not feel like it, but you’ve made great progress! I’m particularly impressed that you’ve finished up an eyeshadow – that’s something I’ve never managed. You’ve also got me wanting a CT palette… Time for me to pan some things to make space!

You have made great progress in using up products. I wanted to do more of this with my skincare products and my planner stickers. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!
