If you’ve been around my blog for a while. You know that I have a serious love hate relationship with hitting pan on makeup. Looking back at this post from early 2022, I have to laugh, this was the exact moment I officially kicked off my very first Project 10 Pan challenge.
I was so optimistic about finishing things like the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. Little did I know that some of these exact items would still be haunting my project pan updates a whole year later in 2023.
Have you ever done a Project 10 Pan? What is the one makeup product that took you literal years to finish? Let’s chat in the comments!
The Original Post
As usual, I’m about five years too late to the trend, but here we are! I’ve finally decided to do a Project 10 Pan, and I’m strangely looking forward to it. Let’s just say that I’m not proud of my old makeup spending habits, and I have a lot of older beauty products that I’d love to get finished, which is exactly what has led me here.
What is a Project Pan?
The aim of a Project 10 Pan is to pick 10 specific products from your makeup collection and commit to finishing them within the year. Once you completely finish a product, you get to swap it out for something else, and this cycle continues until all of the original 10 products are gone.
Some people follow a strict rule of not being able to purchase any new makeup while doing this, but I’m not sticking to that one. I barely spend anything on makeup as it is nowadays, and I don’t want to restrict myself too much.
Here are the original 10 products I’ve chosen:
Charlotte Tilbury | Flawless Filter

The 2022 Goal: Use it Up Completely
The Strategy: I have been trying to use this up for a while now, but it just seems to keep going and going! I love to use this before foundation to add a bit of a luminous glow to my skin. However, I don’t find it an essential step in my everyday makeup routine because I tend to use glowy foundations for dry skin anyway. I just really want this finished as it has been sitting in my drawer for a while now.
Benefit | Hoola Bronzer

The 2022 Goal: Use it Up
The Strategy: Putting a powder bronzer in this challenge may be the worst decision I’ve ever made. I really struggle to hit pan on cheek products, never mind finishing the entire compact! Luckily, I’ve already hit a tiny bit of pan on this one, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not too much of a struggle to get it totally finished.
Charlotte Tilbury | Dancefloor Princess Lipstick
Discontinued

The 2022 Goal: Use it up
The Strategy: I’ve made it no secret on my blog and Instagram that I’m trying to finish this bullet lipstick, so I had to include it here. Dancefloor Princess is described as a beautiful pop pink, and I love it as an everyday nude-pink shade. It has a lovely creamy finish, which means it doesn’t last all day on the lips, which I guess actually works out better for a project pan since I have to reapply it more often!
Fenty | Fu$$y Gloss Bomb

The 2022 Goal: Finish it.
The Strategy: I keep this lip gloss in my everyday handbag, and I’ve recently started to notice that I’m actually getting through it. That small bit of progress really motivated me to use it even more, especially since I’ve never successfully finished a lip gloss before! Fussy is described as a dusty pink and it’s great for on the go wear. It feels quite moisturising too, so I find myself applying it when my lips feel chapped and I don’t have a standard balm on me.
Morphe | Continuing Setting Mist

The 2022 Goal: Use it up.
The Strategy: Including this one is kind of cheating because I don’t think it has many uses left in the can. I’ve included it because I always automatically find myself reaching for my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray instead. If I can just force myself to use this Morphe mist a handful of times, I’ll easily be able to finish it up and declutter it.
Urban Decay | Naked Palette
Discontinued

The 2022 Goal: Finish one shade and hit pan on two more.
The Strategy: First of all, let’s just take a quick second to mourn the fact that this iconic eyeshadow palette doesn’t exist anymore! All jokes aside, this is one of my favourite ever palettes. As a neutral eyeshadow lover, it’s just so good.
In 2021, I put this palette aside to see if I could create similar neutral looks with my Natasha Denona Glam Palette, so this one got pushed to the back of the drawer. However, as it is getting quite old, I should probably get a move on with using it.
ColourPop | Peekaboo Super Shock Eyeshadow
Discontinued

The 2022 Goal: Use it up.
The Strategy: This was my absolute favourite ColourPop Super Shock Shadow until the shade Koosh came along and completely stole its thunder! So it’s finally time to focus on this one, and get it gone.
Wet n Wild | Blossom Glow Highlighter

The 2022 Goal: Use it up.
The Strategy: This is the product I’m feeling the most nervous about. The shiny metal pan is already huge, and I’ve still got a very long way to go even if I have made a decent dent in it. I previously included this in my most loved highlighters post and haven’t made much progress on it since then, so here’s hoping this challenge forces me to get more of it gone.
Lanolips | 101 Ointment Multi Balm Peach

The 2022 Goal: Use it up.
The Strategy: This is such a great, hydrating lip balm, but it’s been sitting in my drawer for a while now and I’d really like to commit to finishing it. I’ve only ever used it as a lip treatment. But it’s a brilliant multi-use balm that can be used on dry skin, cuticles, and elbows. It also smells incredible, which I’m sure will help me reach for it more.
Too Faced | Sweet Peach Palette
Discontinued

The 2022 Goal: Finish two shades and hit pan on one other.
The Strategy: I don’t think I’ve shut up about this palette ever since I rediscovered it in my stash, it is definitely up there with my most used makeup items.
The Final Verdict
There we have it. Those are the products that should be coming to an empties post near you, before the end of the year. I’ll be posting updates throughout the year so you’ll be able to see my progress.

Thank you! I can imagine that it’s hard to keep the motivation going all year long. I hope it goes well if you decide to do it again xx
I love how much pan I’m already seeing here! x
Beautylymin
haha some may call it cheating xx
I feel like I always see people doing project pans, and I secretly want to do one! Maybe I’ll actually make one. I already have an idea of what I would add. You know what, I’m going to think about it over the weekend, and also update people on it! I’ve been buying a lot less makeup, but I still have SO much! This would be a good way to use up some of what I have. I feel like covid did a good job of me not buying almost anything, and just using up a lot of what I currently have. Thanks for inspiring me, and keep an eye out, cause I’m definitely going to post about my own now 🙂 xx
Melina | http://www.melinaelisa.com
You should do one! I’ve been on the fence for ages, but decided to finally take the plunge. I’ll definitely read it and keep up with the progress if you decide to do it. I’m exactly the same, it feels like the collection is never ending sometimes. It’s no problem, and I’m very looking forward to seeing it xx
What kind of skin type do you have, I’ve been thinking about buying the flawless filter from CT and although I do use glowy foundations, I have such dry skin that I always want more and more glow! I would love to do project pan, I desperately need to use up some of my makeup and switch out products! xx
I have dry skin too, and find once I’ve prepped my skin and used a glowy foundation, it can be a little much for my liking. If you want more glow then it will probably be good for you. I hope this has inspired you to do your own xx
I really need to start my own project pan!
Danielle
I’d love to see it!xx
Ohh, I love this! Such a good idea! I’ve had some of my products for wayyy too long…
Project 10 Pan is such a good idea! I never use up some of my palettes and need to do this!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Ooh, I just got the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Honey Waffles. I like it, but I feel like I need a lip liner to pair with it. Fenty needs to come out with lip liners.
