Just like all of my blog posts, this one is very late. Considering the second trimester ends at 28 weeks, and as this goes live I’m 37 weeks along. Which means there will be a third trimester post coming very soon, and it isn’t long until little man makes an appearance. I seriously don’t know where the time is going, it seems to be flying by all of a sudden.
The second trimester seemed to last forever; not for any particular reason, but time seemed much slower than it does now. I think it’s because the birth was much further away, where as we’re on a much shorter countdown now.
This is my second trimester.
Change of Cravings
If you saw my first trimester post, then you will know that I have been craving everything. This hasn’t really changed, as I still crave just about everything. However, I seem to go through phases on what I really want to eat. Most notably it’s been: Jelly Tots, Strawberry Laces and Jaffa Cakes.
New Symptoms
I feel extremely lucky, as things really picked up in the second trimester. The nausea went away, and I could do more without getting tired. Unfortunately I caught COVID at 15 weeks, which did knock me off my feet, but luckily it didn’t have an impact on baby.
Something I had pretty much all the way throughout my second trimester was congestion. I’m not a hay fever sufferer, but that is exactly what it felt like I had. I since found out that it’s pregnancy rhinitis, and I’m very glad that I don’t experience it anymore. Let’s just leave it as that…
I’ve always had keratosis pilaris over my legs, but its been a lot more noticeable since I’ve been pregnant. Luckily it’s completely harmless, so it hasn’t bothered me at all. It’s just something I thought I’d include, as its something I don’t see a lot of people mention.
Feeling Him Move
I didn’t feel movements until we got to around the 20ish week. Which is normal for your first baby, but it didn’t stop me worrying about it. As the weeks went on, he started to move more and more. However he always seemed to stop whenever I’d get Jake to feel. In fact, the woman doing our 4D scan at 26 weeks felt him move before Jake did.
Has He Got a Name?
We only have one name that we’ve both agreed on, but I’m not going to share it here just yet. There’s a 99.9% chance that we’ll go with it, the only thing that will change our minds is if the name doesn’t suit him once he’s here.
There we have it, that was my second trimester.
Thank you for reading!

Getting Covid must have been a worry for you. I’m glad that the congestion is gone – that would drive you mad at the best of times! Not long now! x

I’m happy to hear that you’re feeling better! Covid can definitely take its toll and make you feel so exhausted, and I’m glad you and the baby are ok!
Congratulations! I can’t wait to be able to have a baby and experience all of this. Thank you for sharing.
