Does pregnancy ever sink in? As I write this, I’m in my second trimester and things still don’t feel real. It still hasn’t sunken in, even though we’ve had two scans, and even been able to see in 4D. It all feels like a dream, in the best possible way… apart from the nausea. Saying that, it was extremely hard to keep the news quiet for so long, but sharing the news was so exciting. I also just wanted to say thank you, for all the love I’ve received on our announcements.
In this post I’m going to go through my experience with my first trimester, but please remember every pregnancy is different. So don’t compare your experience with mine, and what works for me might not work for you and vice versa.
This how my first trimester went:
How Did I Find Out?
I found out when I was four weeks, but I’d had suspicions before then. Mainly because my emotions were everywhere… I think I cried over something everyday for a week. It was never from being sad, I just found myself crying at everything.
What Symptoms Have I Had?
I’ve already touched on being emotional, so I won’t go back over that one. My main symptom has been nausea. Which I was dreading, as I have a fear of being sick. Luckily I’ve only had one really bad day with sickness, and as I couldn’t keep anything down, they prescribed me with anti sickness pills. I’ve also been exhausted, as soon as I sat down on the sofa, I’d be asleep and found that no matter how much I slept, it wasn’t enough. I also found out that I have low iron, so I have to take iron pills now.
What Have I Been Craving?
I don’t know what this says about me, but I’ve craved literally everything. If I see a photo of it and it looks nice, then I want it. Sometimes it’d pass quickly, and other times it wouldn’t go away until I have it. I found myself craving salt and pepper chicken, and chips when it’s not normally something I’d order. Something I’ve craved quite a lot is a roast dinner, which hasn’t been ideal in the heatwave. I also found my weird food combination, as I found myself loving pesto pasta with sweet chilli sauce.
Will You Be Finding Out The Gender?
We always planned on finding out the gender and knew it was something we wanted to do. As I’m currently in my second trimester, we paid to have a scan at Window to the Womb and are having a gender reveal party on the 7th of August. I’ve got a feeling it’s a girl, only because I had a dream about it. Jake however thinks we’re having a boy.
I think that’s everything, but if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Overall we’re just really excited to be parents and see where this journey takes us.
That was my first trimester.
Thank you for reading!

Happy for you. Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy, it is the best time. I never had any sickness during both my pregnancy. We never checked the gender, but it is also not allowed in some countries I guess. But I always had this feeling that it is a boy and yes I have two handsome boys. Take care of your health and keep posting 🙂

I hope all is going well for you! It’s such a wonderful time in your lives. My morning sickness didn’t kick in until after 12 weeks, I thought I had escaped it but then it never stopped, but it was all in the afternoon through to bedtime. I craved grapes, my Mum was the same. I use to sleep a lot too! Good luck with everything xx
