The Archive Check: A Blogmas Classic Revisited
As the temperature drops outside, my evening routine transitions completely into creating a warm, comforting sanctuary indoors. Looking back through my beauty collection, few things brought as much luxury to a cold winter evening as this shimmering, star-studded treat. I wanted to bring this classic review back out of the archives to share why it remains an absolute hallmark of cold weather self care.
Let’s face it: there is something incredibly comforting about a dark winter evening when you have nowhere else to be. When the weather is freezing and raining outside, the ultimate escape is locking the bathroom door, dimming the lights, and running a steaming hot bath.
Over the years, my seasonal pamper routine has always featured a rotating stash of winter treats. Out of all the limited edition holiday launches, one specific starry blue sphere always earned a permanent spot on my bathroom shelf. It did go alongside Golden Wonder, but unfortunately that one has been retired.
If you are a fan of sweet scents and deeply hydrating formulas, here is my Lush Shoot for the Stars bath bomb review and a look at why this winter classic is so incredibly special.
The New Design vs. The Original
If you remember the original version of this bath bomb, it actually had a major revamp that moved it miles away from what it looked like before. The blue became a lot more vibrant, and the gold stars on the exterior were updated to work as functional bath melts.
The older version featured a singular star that was simply a design feature rather than a moisturising treatment. While the old one was easily one of my all-time favourite bath bombs, this updated multi melt version certainly did not disappoint.
Is it Similar to Other Lush Products?
This bath bomb reminds me a lot of Intergalactic, which is a popular space themed bath bomb available all year round. They are visually quite similar because they both turn the water a gorgeous shade of blue and leave lots of glitter behind.
However, that is where the similarities stop. The scents are almost polar opposites; Intergalactic is incredibly fresh and minty, whereas this one is sweet and shares a scent with the famous Honey I Washed the Kids line.
The Scent Profile: Uplifting Sweet Citrus
Because it shares a fragrance family with Honey I Washed the Kids, the main ingredients include:
-
Sweet Orange Oil
-
Bergamot Oil
-
Honey Accord
Personally, I tend to get a bit more of the orange note than I do the honey, but I really enjoy it. It might not be the most traditionally festive, spicy scent on the shelf, but it is still a genuinely good one.
In the Water: Vivid Blue Streams & Bath Melts
As soon as this bath bomb is placed in the water, it gets straight to work by releasing a vivid blue and white froth along the surface. The water turns blue almost instantly, which makes me think you could easily split this bath bomb in half and still get a really great coluor pay off.
As it fizzes, the stars leave gorgeous trails of gold glitter behind them. Because they double as bath melts, they also give the water fantastic moisturising qualities that coat dry winter skin.
The end result is absolutely beautiful. Even when all of the initial bath art has disappeared, you are left with vibrant blue water that has tons of glitter running throughout it. Just keep in mind that the heavy glitter means your tub will need a good rinse afterward, as it does tend to stick to the sides.
The Final Verdict
Overall, this is a really lovely bath bomb that you simply cannot go wrong with, whether you are picking it up as a pampering treat for yourself or buying it as a holiday gift for someone else.
Putting together this Lush Shoot for the Stars bath bomb review reminds me that the best seasonal beauty products are the ones that truly help us slow down and romanticize our routines. Taking an hour out of a busy week to disconnect from our phones, enjoy a sweet aroma, and soak in a glittering midnight sky is the perfect way to practice mindful self-care.
