If there’s one thing in my beauty routine that I completely overlook, it’s shaving. I’ve never really thought to look into the types of hair removal products I use; instead, I’ve just stuck to the exact same drugstore brand for years without a second thought.
And then, I started seeing Estrid popping up here, there, and absolutely everywhere on my feed.
The gorgeous pastel handles instantly caught my attention, and after seeing countless positive reviews, it’s safe to say I was intrigued. I was actually planning on ordering a starter kit for myself, but the team over at Estrid kindly got in contact with me first. While this razor was gifted to me, all opinions are completely my own.
If you’ve been wondering whether this brand is worth the hype, let’s get straight into my honest Estrid razor review.
What is Estrid?
Estrid is a Scandinavian, vegan razor subscription service that has taken social media by storm due to its cute yet highly practical designs. Estrid operates on the belief that while body hair removal should always be 100% optional, great hair removal products shouldn’t be a struggle to find. I also love the body-positive quotes printed all over the packaging!
The Charitable Angle
One of my favourite things about the brand is its ethics. For every single purchase made, Estrid donates a portion of its proceeds to charities like Kvinna till Kvinna, Medica Mondiale, or the Fawcett Society. They frequently run limited-edition charity drives too, making it a brand that actively gives back.
How Does the Estrid Subscription Service Work?
The sign-up process is incredibly straightforward and budget-friendly:

The Starter Kit (£7.95): For under £8, you build your initial starter kit. This includes your heavy steel razor handle, a matching magnetic wall holder, and two 5-blade razor cartridges.

The Pastel Colour Range: When you place your order, you get to choose your favourite aesthetic shade. They offer gorgeous pastels like Blush (pink), Cloud (grey), Space (lilac), Peach, and Lemonade (yellow). Naturally, I chose Blush because anything pink completely has my heart!

The Replacement Cartridges (£9.95): From there, you choose how often you want to automatically receive replacement blades based on how frequently you shave. You get four fresh cartridges delivered straight to your door.

Total Flexibility: There are no strings attached, you can easily pause, skip a month, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account.
My Experience: Does It Actually Give a Smooth Shave?
I have to admit I was a little hesitant to use a new, super-sharp razor at first. I was convinced that I’d somehow manage to accidentally cut myself around my ankles, but touch wood, I haven’t had a single nick.
Using this razor honestly feels like magic. The first time I glided it down my leg, it felt like absolutely nothing was happening. But when I double checked, the hair was completely gone! It vanishes within one single stroke without feeling a thing.
The Hydrating Strip Formula
The 5-blade razor cartridges are surrounded by a vegan lubricating strip packed with skin-loving ingredients:

This combination leaves the skin feeling incredibly nice, smooth, and hydrated straight out of the shower. However, because I have dry skin, I still like to follow up with my favourite body moisturiser afterward.
The Steel Handle & An Important Warning!
The quality of the steel handle is amazing. It feels very weighty and luxurious in your hand, which is a massive contrast to the flimsy, lightweight plastic razors I used to buy.
My Top Tip: Please learn from my mistake and remember to use the handy magnetic wall holder that comes in your starter kit! I completely forgot to hang mine up after my first use. When I next picked the razor up, the hydrating strip had sat in water, meaning it needed a good wash because it had become gloopy and a bit gross. Because the handle is solid steel, properly drying it on the wall mount also ensures it won’t rust over time.
The Overall Verdict: Is Estrid Worth It?
I would highly recommend checking Estrid out if you are currently in the market for a high-quality, smooth new razor. The build quality is beautiful, the pricing is economically much better than standard drugstore replacement blades, and I love the flexibility of being able to skip a month whenever you want.

I think razor subscription services have really taken off. I’m subscribed to Friction Free Shaving and it’s great because I used to be terrible at buying now blades! Estrid sounds really good too!

I love the sound of Estrid. I’ve heard nothing but good things about them actually. I currently use a men’s razor to shave my legs because it gives me such a better shave than any women’s razors I’ve tried!
