I love painting my nails, it used to be part of my routine and I would do it every Sunday night, but just lately I have gotten awful at it. Every time I look at my nails I think: ‘I really need to paint them’, but then there’s the effort of building up coats and waiting for them to dry and I just don’t have the time or patience anymore.
I was recently contacted by the lovely nail artist and manicurist Roxanne Campbell asking to review two of her nail lacquers; fresh from her first collection. In case you’re unsure of who Roxanne Campbell is, she has done the nails of celebrities such as: Adele and Jordan Dunn.
These nail lacquers are made in the UK, cruelty free and claim to only need one coat with a long-lasting formula. I received two colours from the Summer line: Sitting Pretty (a bright pink) and Violets are Blue (a mid tone blue). I’m not going to swatch these on my nails, as I don’t think my nails will do these as much justice as they deserve.
I was drawn to Sitting Pretty immediately, as I love pink on nails. I wasn’t quite sure how I would take to a bright pink, but I fell in love. This is opaque with one coat and dries incredibly quickly. This has lasted incredibly well too with only the edges chipping away slightly, but that’s after a week of wear.
Violets are Blue is such a unique colour that I found it quite hard to compare it to anything else. I do think the quality of this one isn’t as good as Sitting Pretty, but that’s only because Sitting Pretty is a quality colour. I had to do two coats of this one, as it did apply slightly streaky, but you can’t beat the lasting power, as it lasts just as well and also dries incredibly quickly.
The bottle reminds me a lot of other luxury brands such as Chanel and Dior, so the packaging fits right into the luxurious market. They apply really nicely too, as you can apply a full nail without having to go back for more colour.
Overall I would say that I really like both of these. The colours are so pretty and there are so many other colours that I have my eyes on from her collection. I’m so impressed with how well these last, as I’m normally left needing to completely repaint by day three, but these last so well and the application time is quick and easy.
Again a massive thank you to Roxanne Campbell for sending these over! If you would like to check out the full collection, you can click here!
