Okay, so this is going to be a bit of different post for me. I thought it would be fun to go through some of the makeup I own and pick out some of the ones with packaging that I hate. It doesn’t mean the product it’s self is bad, in fact I love all of these products. I’m just not a fan of how it’s packaged. This is all my opinion. Please don’t come for me if I mention packaging that you love, it just doesn’t float my boat.
Let’s get into makeup with packaging I hate.
Wet n Wild | Megaglo Highlighter
This is one of my all time favourite highlighters, as you can tell from the size of the pan. The packaging though is not the one. It always irritated me, as it never shut with a click, which I must admit is very petty, but now it doesn’t shut at all. I would not feel safe travelling with this, as I can guarantee that it would smash. I don’t mind the actual components, I just wish the clasp was better.
Rimmel | Stay Matte Powder
Whilst we’re on the topic of products that don’t shut, I have to talk about the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Don’t get me wrong it’s a classic and a staple in my collection, but I’m surprised the packaging hasn’t been changed. The lid is extremely flimsy and mine has cracked in numerous places. Looking at it now, I’m going to have to declutter it, as I haven’t used it for a while and it looks in bad shape. It’s also worth noting that I’ve just took the lid off and then back on and another bit of plastic has come off in my hands.
ColourPop | Lippie Stix
Another product that I absolutely love, but the packaging just doesn’t it for me. I know these are one of the first products ColourPop launched, but I think it’s time the packaging had an update similar to the lippie pencils. The only thing I hate is how the shade is on the bottom and all of these look the same unless you can store them upside down. It would be much more helpful if the lid was the same colour as the shade, so it was easier to tell them apart.
Physicians Formula | Butter Bronzer
I was so excited to finally be able to try this bronzer, as it used to be impossible to get in the UK. Luckily Physicians Formula is now stocked over here, so it’s not a mission to get it anymore. The bronzer definitely deserves the hype, I just wish the packaging wasn’t as bulky. The bronzer section flips up to reveal a sponge and a mirror underneath which makes the whole thing chunky.
ColourPop | Going Coconuts Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve already mentioned my dislike for the packaging in my review, so I won’t go into too much detail here. I hate any packaging that fades after a while, and I’m already on the way to losing a few letters here. It’s also a pain to open and I often find myself not shutting it properly, as you have to click it closed.
Urban Decay | Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette
I feel like this is the first palette I’ve seen with real imagery on it and not something digital and I hate it. I know the images relate to the theme of the palette, but it reminds me of being on Tumblr back in the early 2010’s. The whole thing feels very cringe to me. It’s almost like Pinterest threw up and this was the result. I just don’t enjoy it at all.
There we have it. That is makeup with packaging I hate.
Again please don’t take any of these to heart, it’s just my opinion.
I would love to hear what makeup packaging you hate.
