The Archive Check: A Milestone Autumn
Looking back through my blog archives. October 2020 stands out as one of the most exciting and transitional months of my life. Not only was I falling back in love with content creation and focusing on a more intentional lifestyle. But it was also the exact month a massive personal milestone happened. Re-evaluating this list today is a beautiful reminder of how my nesting journey began, alongside the items that made up my favourite autumn moments.
Let’s face it: starting a favourites post with an apology for being late is practically a blogging tradition at this point. But there is something so wonderful about those seasons where your creative motivation suddenly floods back, and you find yourself with an absolute mountain of content ideas ready to go.
October has always been the perfect month for romanticising the quiet moments at home. As the weather cools down, we naturally start reaching for richer textures, vampy nail polishes, and reliable makeup staples.
Looking back at this snapshot is incredibly special. From a holy grail lipstick to life-changing house news, here is a look at my cosy seasonal favourites from a few autumns ago.
Too Faced | Sweet Peach Palette
Discontinued

Ever since I originally rediscovered this palette during the summer, it was pretty much the only thing I reached for. I did try to switch things up and find another shadow palette to love, but I soon came right back to this one. I found a quick daytime look that takes barely any time at all, which is exactly what you want when you are trying to simplify your mornings. It completely earned its permanent spot on my vanity.
MAC | Faux Lipstick
Discontinued

For a while leading up to October, I was using a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick pretty much every single day to try and work my way through the bullet. However, that month called for a change, and I switched back to Faux.
This was my absolute all-time favourite MAC lipstick, and every single time I swiped it on, I was instantly reminded of why I loved it so much. It was the absolute perfect muted, rosy mauve for chilly weather. I am honestly so sad that MAC has since discontinued this shade; it was a total holy grail for pale skin.
Jolie Beauty | Blushers

These were gifted, but all opinions are my own.
Blush was actually a brand new step for me around this time, as I was only just getting into wearing it regularly. I was gifted a couple of shades from Jolie Beauty and fell in love with how they applied. They are intensely pigmented but blend like an absolute dream. Rendezvous is a stunning, light everyday pink, while Flushed is a slightly darker, peachy shade that still looks incredibly flattering on pale skin tones.
I have a full review, if you’d like to see swatches.
Wet n Wild | Blossom Glow Highlighter
I had put this affordable highlighter on the back burner for a while because I wanted to actively rotate through my makeup collection rather than buying new things. Going back to it was such a great decision. It is a beautiful iridescent silver that gives a gorgeous glow without exaggerating skin texture. You can apply a light, muted layer for daytime, or build it up for a more intense look that lasts all day.
Lights Lacquer | Serendipity and Ruby

I don’t tend to talk about nail polish very often on the blog, but these two specific shades completely surprised me.
-
Serendipity: A classic red with a distinct pink undertone. I wasn’t expecting much at first, but it turned out to be the exact true red my collection was missing.
-
Ruby: A gorgeous, deep shade packed with chunky glitter. It swatched a bit rough, but on the nails, the glitter lays completely flat and applies effortlessly. It gives the ultimate vampy autumn vibe.
Finding Joy in the Creative Process
October was also the month I completely changed my approach to social media. I decided to start posting on Instagram twice a day, which completely surprised me by boosting my creativity.
Posting more regularly meant I was forced to pick up my camera and take photos consistently. It became an amazing source of motivation.
The Ultimate Life Update: We Had an Offer Accepted!
By far the most magical part of looking back at this month, is remembering that this was the moment Jake and I had an offer accepted on a house.
Even though it was still the incredibly early, stressful stages of the moving process, sharing it on the blog back then means I can look back today and remember exactly how ecstatic we felt to have found our perfect home. It was the ultimate beginning of our cosy lifestyle journey together.
The Reflection
Revisiting this list reminds me that the best cosy seasonal favourites aren’t just about shopping your stash. They are about the chapters of life that surround them. Whether you’re painting your nails a deep burgundy, falling back in love with an old eyeshadow palette, or packing up boxes for a new adventure. Life is all about embracing these slow, meaningful changes.
