It is absolutely no secret around here that I love a good blog tag! While they might be considered a bit “old school” in the modern beauty world, I always find them to be such a fun, refreshing change of pace from my usual review content.
I was recently tagged by the lovely Parie over at Class and Glitter to take part in the 21 Questions: Makeup Edition tag. This is a fun, beauty centric take on the iconic fast paced Vogue 73 questions video series, and I couldn’t wait to sit down and answer them for you.
Grab a drink, get cosy, and let’s jump straight into the hot seat!
1 . What is the Oldest Makeup Product in Your Collection?
You know what, I can’t exactly remember which one arrived first, but it is a tie between my original Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and my MAC lipstick in the shade Brave. Both of them are embarrassingly old at this point, but I just can’t bring myself to part with them!
2. What is Your Most Recent Makeup Purchase?
The last makeup purchase I made was the gorgeous Huda Beauty Gold palette. I’ve been doing really well on my makeup low-buy lately, and I’m honestly so proud of myself for sticking to it.
3. What is the First Makeup Product you ever Used?
I’m pretty sure it was a mascara, though I’m not entirely sure which exact one. It was highly likely to be a classic drugstore tube from Maybelline, or perhaps the Collection Extreme mascara which I used to absolutely love!
4. What is a Makeup Trend You Used to Love, but Now You Hate?
The only thing that instantly comes to mind is coloured highlighters. I used to absolutely love pale pink and icy blue shifts on the cheeks, but nowadays, I’m all about classic champagnes and much more wearable, natural looking tones.
5. What is a Makeup Trend You Used to Hate, but Now You Love?
I can’t quite believe I’m actually typing these words, but… liquid lipsticks! I never used to get along with the formula because it felt so drying, but once I finally tried the Too Faced Melted Matte line, I was completely converted. Saying that, glossy lips will always have my heart.
6. What is Your Favourite Step of Your Makeup Routine?
This was a really tough battle between blush, bronzer, and highlighter. In the end, highlighter takes the crown! It has been my absolute favourite makeup product for a while now, and because it’s the very last step of my base routine, it’s so satisfying to watch the whole look finally come together.
7. What is a Makeup Product You Can’t Live Without?
Foundation, without a doubt. My skin is naturally quite prone to redness, so I rely on a good foundation to help cover it up, boost my confidence, and make my skin tone look smooth and even.
8. What Sparked Your Love For Makeup?
Sitting in my bedroom watching YouTube videos and reading beauty blogs! I didn’t properly get into makeup until I was around 15 or 16, and I was definitely inspired by the early internet beauty community and people like Zoella.
9. What is the Worst Makeup Look You’ve Ever Done?
Pretty much anything I attempted when I first started experimenting with makeup as a teenager. The less said about the unblended lines and mismatched shades, the better… let’s move swiftly on!
10. What is Your Favourite Makeup Look You’ve Ever Done?
To be completely honest, I don’t tend to do anything super crazy or overly dramatic with my makeup style. The majority of my everyday looks follow the same classic routine with just a few slight shade variants. Saying that, I always absolutely love how my makeup turns out whenever I reach for the original Urban Decay Naked 1 palette.
11. What is Your Favourite Drugstore Makeup Product?
The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. It has held a permanent, unshakeable spot in my collection ever since I first tried it all the way back in 2015.
12. What is Your Favourite Splurge Makeup Product?
It definitely has to be a high end foundation. I am more than happy to spend a little extra money to get a flawless base, whether that’s the Too Faced Born This Way or Nars Sheer Glow.
13. What is Your Most Repurchased Makeup Product?
I have gone through countless, endless tubes of that Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara over the years. In fact, it actually features in my dedicated blog post all about my top five most repurchased makeup products of all time!
14. What is Your Earliest Makeup Memory?
I vividly remember sneaking into my mum’s vanity and using her old Avon foundation. It completely oxidised into an orange shade on my skin, and because I had absolutely no idea what a makeup sponge or brush was, I had to use my fingers.
15. What is Your Favourite Place to Shop for Makeup?
I almost exclusively find myself browsing online retail sites like Cult Beauty or Beauty Bay nowadays. The brand selections are just too good.
16. What is the Most Underrated Makeup Product You Own?
It has to be the blushers and highlighters from Jolie Beauty. Both formulas are extremely pigmented and beautiful on the skin, yet I never seem to hear anyone talking about them online, which is such a shame.
17. What is the Most Overrated Makeup Product You Own?
I don’t keep products in my everyday collection if I don’t genuinely like them, but I really didn’t enjoy the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks. I always saw people absolutely raving about them on Instagram, but the formula just didn’t work for me.
18. What is a Discontinued Makeup Product You Wish Would Come Back?
I absolutely LOVED the original Too Faced Melted Liquified lipsticks, specifically the shade Chocolate Milkshake. It smelled incredible and the colour was the perfect nude.
19. Where Do You Go for Makeup Inspiration?
It has to be Instagram. There are so many incredibly talented creators on there sharing beautiful, wearable inspiration every single day.
20. What Do You Hope To See Less of in Makeup’s Future?
The overwhelming speed of fast beauty releases. It never used to bother me when brands like ColourPop did it because their items are so affordable, but it’s gotten to a point where brands are constantly prioritising launching new collections instead of restocking their core lines. It’s such a pain when you miss out on a launch and have to wait months for a restock.
21. What Do You Hope to See More of in Makeup’s Future?
I want to see consistent, industry wide diversity. It is frankly appalling that some brands still launch base products without an inclusive shade range that caters to every single skin tone. Fenty Beauty completely paved the way and opened a lot of brands’ eyes, but there is still so much progress to be made.
Over to You!
There we have it, my quick-fire 21 Questions tag completely answered!
I’m not going to tag anyone specifically for this post, but if you are reading this and fancy doing this tag on your own blog, consider yourself officially tagged!
Let’s Chat in the Comments!
If you don’t have a blog, let’s chat in the comments below: What is the oldest makeup product currently hiding in your drawers, and what is the one discontinued beauty product you would bring back from the dead if you could?
Thank you so much for reading!
Thanks for reading.

I loved reading your answers to this tag! I also totally agree with you on the less beauty launches for the upcoming year. I don’t really mind Colourpop doing it but more expensive brands is a no go because I just can’t keep up! Especially if they’ll release so many limited edition products, I have so much FOMO lol.
Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I really hope brands slow down this year xx
this is a fun tag! Totally agree about the Too Faced melted lipsticks, they were so good! xx
Danielle’s Beauty Blog
I am so glad you think so! I know, gutted they were discontinued xx
Love this blog post idea!! I know what you mean about something in your collection being embarrassingly old.. I’m the same with my first palette! I don’t want to let it go haha xx
Amber | http://www.amberatlanta.blogspot.co.uk
Thank you so much, it’s such a fun tag! Haha glad it isn’t just me that holds onto things!xx
Great tag and great answers! I’m also on a low-buy this year and I hope brands start to release less collections this year!!
xoxo Olivia

Really enjoyed reading this & am going to do it soon! x
Beautylymin
So glad you enjoyed it! I’m looking forward to seeing your answers xx
I think that my Mac lipsticks would also be the oldest things in my collect as I genuinely wouldn’t buy them now! Really love the too faced melted lipsticks too x
They were all the rage back in the day, that’s for sure! They’re so good, glad you like them too xx
I loved reading this Hanna! I love a good tag. I still hold onto stuff i bought years ago, because yes they’re my favorites and it’s hard to let go, like some lipsticks I bought back a couple of years ago. Thank you for sharing x
Thank you so much! Me too! It can be so hard to throw stuff out sometimes. It’s no problem, thank you for stopping by xx
This is such a good tag! It’s made me think about things like what my first makeup product was, haha – The memories!
Chloe X
It really is, such a fun one! It’s nice to think back xx
This is so cool. I love all the questions and I love the tagging games too. I love answering questions about myself. Would like to do this too.
So glad you think so! I look forward to seeing your answers if you give this a go xx
Oh yeah my Urban Decay palette or mac lipsticks must be my oldest! I found a gross old Mac lipstick the other day, I need to chuck it hahah xx
They were so big back in the day haha! I had to throw some of mine away for the same reason!xx
I recently was chosen to review the Jolie Beauty Highlighters, and I fell in love with them instantly 🙂
They’re so beautiful aren’t they?!xx
Oh wow, this was a trip down memory lane – I remember trying my mother’s orange and salmon pink lipsticks, as well as her spit cake mascara block (yuck!). My first purchase was a delightful electric blue eyeshadow from Miners! x
So glad it was for you too! Haha, it was always fun to experiment with mums makeup when we were younger. Oh wow!!xx
I must say Youtube Makeup videos are very addicting to watch! I also grew to love make ups because of watching too much Youtube videos 😂🙈 I love Maybelline mascaras too, they’re the bomb. Thanks for sharing! x
They really are! Glad it wasn’t just me haha! They’re so good, such a great formula for an affordable brand. It’s no problem, thank you for stopping by xx
More diversity is definitely something I’d like to see more of! I’m not too familiar with the make up and beauty world but I do know that most brands don’t produce nowhere NEAR enough shades! I’d also like to see more sustainable packaging going forward too! x
Definitely! The shade ranges are so lacking and it’s such a shame. Yes, that’s an amazing point too xx
I could so relate to the worst makeup look, anything makeup look I did when I first started wearing makeup properly were probably my worst looks! x
Lucy | http://www.lucymary.co.uk
Haha, I guess everyone has to start somewhere! I’m just glad there’s no photographic evidence xx
I feel the same about liquid lipsticks, i’ve been converted! Love this post xx
Once you find a good formula, you’re converted! Thank you xx
This is such a fun tag! I love binge watching makeup videos on Youtube. It’s so therapeutic to me xx
lenne | lennezulkiflly.com
I am so glad you think so! Me too, it’s nice to switch off xx
What a fun tag! Instagram is definitely my biggest make-up inspiration too (when I wear it). I also watch a lot of Youtube tutorials, I find them quite relaxing haha.
I am so glad you think so! There is so much inspiration on there, it’s crazy! YouTube is a good one too xx
Loved reading through this!! I definitely got all the feels reading about the Youtube days as that’s what inspired me too for my love of makeup back then xx
I am so glad to hear you liked it! Haha the Zoella days are such a throwback xx
This is such a great post. I enjoyed reading all about your makeup answers!
I am so glad you think so!xx
Haha I never liked liquid lipsticks either!
Glad it wasn’t just me haha!xx
I enjoyed reading this! I learn make up from Youtube and it does help me to know more about many types of make up tools. I started from the basic and now I have all the things I need when I have to stay fresh for the whole day x
I am so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it’s great to put YouTube on and learn all of these new things xx
Such a cute way to look back at how it all started! I also remember watching haul videos of many British youtubers like Zoella, Fleur, Tanya. Seems like it was a century ago! My first big palette was also Naked 2 😀 I had to get rid of it though, because it was expired xx
Naya
http://www.nayatilly.com
So glad you think so! It really does, it’s crazy how much they fell off. Aw no way! It’s always so sad when you have to throw makeup out because it’s expired xx
I really enjoyed reading your answers and I think its safe to say, we all regret how we did our make up when we were first starting out. I absolutely adore the Jolie Beauty highlighters and really need to give their blushers a try too.
I am so glad you enjoyed! Haha that is so true! They’re so good aren’t they?!xx
I always love reading tag posts like this! Because of lockdown I feel like I hardly ever wear makeup anymore! It only tends to be if I need to go to the shops or we go for a long walk that I can be bothered haha. Great post lovely xx
Tiffany x http://www.foodandotherloves.co.uk
They’re so fun aren’t they?! So true, I’ve barely worn any this year. Thank you so much xx
Love this blog post idea! I didn’t realise ASOS sold beauty products until recently. x
Zoey | http://www.zoeyolivia.com

The Lash Sensational mascara is really good! I’ve bought a few over the years too. This is a fun tag, loved all of the questions!

Miki x
So glad you think so! Glad you’ve found ones that work for you xx
This is such a fun post idea! I used to love the Collection Extreme mascara, I think it might have been my first makeup product too!

I am so glad you think so! It was so good wasn’t it?!xx
I loved reading this blog post and might participate in the tag myself! I was really happy to see you mention the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks as I’ve never heard anyone mention them before and they were dope. The Jolie Beauty Blushers looked great in your blog post, so I might just have to check them out. I’m yet to try any Nars products and your post has reminded me that this needs to change…
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I look forward to reading your answers, if you give it a go. They were so good weren’t they?! Gutted they’ve been discontinued. They’re my go to now, they’re fab! They have some lovely foundations, sheer glow is the best. Hope you find something you love xx
This is such a fun tag! I definitely agree about wanting to see more diversity in the beauty industry, it is a must – Fenty beauty is seriously paving the way though! The Too Faced Melted Mattes also made me love liquid lipsticks – I remember there was a huge phase when everyone had gone off liquid lipsticks and I still loved them, and it was 100% because of those! x
Erin
I am so glad you like it! It really is, hopefully things begin to improve. Their formula is amazing, I seriously wish I tried it sooner!xx
This was so fun to read! I found myself answering the questions in my head with you. I’m glad to hear your low-buy is going so well! Great post Hannah 🙂 xxx

I am so glad you think so! It’s such a fun tag isn’t it?! Thank you, it’s been a surprise haha! Thank you so much xx
Such a fun and lovely tag and post to read. Also, Happy New Year! <3 x/Madison
I am so glad you think so! Happy New Year xx
Loved this ! Such a cool post idea 🙂
xo, Shannen
Thank you! So glad you like it xx
This was a fun tag! I’m not really a makeup person – I just wore it to the office back when we worked in offices, haha! But I agree, more shade representation is important!
Hope your week is going well 🙂 It’s a busy one here!
I am so glad you think so! It’s definitely an issue that needs to be sorted!
Thank you, and I hope yours is too! Hopefully not too busy for you xx
This looks like a fun tag! I used to be totally obsessed with makeup, but my obsession has calmed down a bit over recent years – although all the skills I learned still come in handy! 🙂 I think my first product used was mascara as well
It was fun reading your answers & my worst makeup looks were definitely when I was starting to wear makeup..
I agree the ABH liquid lipsticks are overrated & Colourpop needs to stop having constant releases because if you like something from a collection, by the time you use it up, you can’t go back & repurchase it because they have had 20 releases since then & discontinued it…
I think concealer was one of the first makeup products that I used!
https://www.emilyclareskinner.com
I really enjoyed your answers! I also *refuse* to acknowledge the fact i wore makeup before 15/16 because it was just BAD xx
Indeed posts like this bring back so many memories! I remember the sunshine awards!
I love Maybelline mascaras too!

I haven’t thought about MAC lipsticks in a long time. MAC as a brand used to be one of the most talked about brands, and now nothing. Did you ever purchase any of the limited edition collections? I know so many people went crazy over them, but I could never afford them at the time.
Love this! We have similar tastes. My fav steps in my makeup routine is blush and highlighter too! It just completes the look. Thank you for sharing! x
http://www.lynnmumbingmejia.com
I hate that revolution are always bringing out new things, and making them feel so essential haha as soon as I do an order, they’ve brought a new product out! ELF are the same, its constant isn’t it! Milli x – http://millidavison.co.uk/
lol I have wanted to do this tag ever since I saw it making its way around YouTube!! My oldest product is definitely the original UD Naked Palette, but its def way too old to use. I def agree that the ABH Liquid Lip formula used to get so much hype but they’re not my favorite formula either. The shades are kinda hit or miss in terms of consistency in performance.
Love posts like this! Thankyou do r sharing with us. It was fun to read!
